AgusPop 4,162 Posted September 30, 2015 Share Posted September 30, 2015 Russia launches first airstrikes against ISIS targets in Syria Russia has launched its first airstrikes against targets in Syria, two days after the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, spoke to the UN and called for an international coalition against terrorism to fight Islamic State The strikes reportedly hit rebel-controlled areas of Homs and Hama provinces, causing casualties. The US says it was informed an hour before they took place. Russian defence officials say aircraft targeted the Islamic State group. Russia’s defence ministry said it had conducted “precision strikes against ground targets of the terrorists” from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, known as Isis.
