Mister Gaga 22,930
Not here for basic/generic songs on LG5. Imagine if LG5 is produced by Dr. Luke and the lyrics are about partying/dancing on the dancefloor and that kind of ****. Even if it sells 30M copies, i won't be proud. Music not the bling
KyliesChild 16,907
Critical, because if she dies not pull out a good album she will lose all of the credibility she has gained and she would be harraser by the media again. But if the album is good, that will mean more people will but the album.

KyliesChild 16,907
Because why choose one, if you can have both? “But which is more important to you, and why? Would you rather her achieve a 90+ score on Metacritic but free fall on the Billboard 200 and produce no hits, or receive a score of 52 on Metacritic and have several smash hit singles?" Okay, you can have both. Choose one that is more important to you.

Riot Poof 2,236
When it comes to mainstream pop artists, I don't put much stock in critical success. Gaga's a mainstream pop artist. She belongs to a genre that makes music with the intention of being commercially successful. A lot of things that are popular aren't critically praised, so a 52 on Metacritic won't matter to the masses. How many panned movies have topped the box office? How many mediocre (in terms of critic ratings) albums have topped the charts? A lot. Lemme also just point out that just cuz something is critically panned doesn't mean that we won't like it. Born to Die, Electra Heart, and Teenage Dream all got low scores, but they're pretty popular albums in pop circles. Mainstream pop albums rarely get scores above 80 anyway. Critics are... just not here for mainstream pop. What I'm saying is... it's entirely possible for Gaga to release a solid album that's commercially successful but critically panned. Gaga makes music for her fans (and for the general public), not for music critics. It's also entirely possible for Gaga's music to be vindicated by history. There are many cases of albums that were initially panned becoming critical darlings. Some of these albums were... commercially successful. This could happen with LG5! I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.
Alfonso 1,551
Commercial success means a larger exposure of her image, message, and lyrics to the public. Critical success means, well... not a whole lot, and probably not a whole lot to Gaga either. And to everyone saying critical success means better music none of Gaga's albums have been seriously critically acclaimed other than Cheek to Cheek. The average is a solid 70. Majorly, the music that a Lady Gaga fan is going to call incredible would seem subpar or lowbrow to music critics. this (Commercial this time but obviously both would be great)
Hexxx 2,244
I just need the album to sound good cause her best albums were commercial Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko
Bebe 17,094
I'd prefer critical acclaim, it would hopefully mean the album is spectacularly good. She has done the whole commercial success thing. I'd prefer her to be more than the girl with hundreds of number one hits, I'd rather people look back on her career and think "Wow, she delivered quality albums."People acting like she genuinely needs money with her networth. She is starring in a hit T.V show in less than 2 weeks, she is pretty successful in that department already.
Bradley 59,183
Both. but more commercial because usually the best selling albums are well received by critics and the most awarded ones
