I still can't understand why liking success and allowing artistic freedom have to be two complete ends of a spectrum.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Mister Gaga

So, the last two months there is a lot of pessimism over LG5 and topics appear like: what would you do if LG5 is a flop? will you buy LG5? and the most awful thing is the answers i see. Something like i ll wait for the lead single and such things. I think the majority of members here are only interested in the *the fame moster* gaga that sells millions of record and wins mutliple awards and is compared to MJ and such things. But, you dont see that gaga is a human being like all of us. It is true that gaga lately fails to outsell her contemparies basic b---hez like taylor or katy while some years ago(Fame-TFM era) she only competed in sales and records with MJ, Madonna and other legends. So i will admit that my favourite gaga album is Cheek to Cheek and that made me fan, not all the rest(second favourite ARTPOP). I feel that with ARTPOP and especially CTC lady gaga is doing her thing and enjoys it more. I also  predict that LG5 will be rock n metal mix.(I will love it for sure, because i think she would be a great rock singer). So, fake b---hez waiting for  big comeback in sales and living only for that sit your asses down please and understand that the thing that matters the most  is music not the bling. Most of these guys are the same fake fans that abandonded madonna in 2008 because gaga that time was more successful and most likely will go to taylor fanbase if TS6 is huge pop success.

Since January 2012 up to February 2015, Gaga hasn't done either of those things. I think that people are here just because they love Gaga. We've been through one of the messiest eras in pop music history, which received a lot of backlash from the media and other fan bases. And we're still here.

I became a fan in Feb 2014, in the middle of Gaga's blackout. I'm not interested in "millions of records and multiple awards". I will be happy if she achieve that, of course, but it doesn't condition my loyalty in her :whitney:

I can't totally disagree. A lot of that has to do with what's defined as "success" as well.  I often think that the music gets overshadowed by the era (although that's a big part of the spectacle) and a lot of fans are only into the bragging rights that come with the superficial like wide spread hero worship from entertainment magazines and superficial charts and polls. They seem to think that real impact only comes from these things (they don't) and ignore any other works or try to downplay their impact because they didn't have a bunch of songs that went top 10 on the charts at some point. Gee, I wonder how music before radio made an impact? How did we get such long reaching and classic songs from hundreds of years ago that will easily outlast most of today's top 40? Any song that resonates with it's audience on a deeper level than just being "catchy" has made an impact. Any album that inspires and emotionally resonates ("speaks") with it's listener has made an impact.

But even on a less deep level, a lot of people here change their minds on their feelings for a song/album based purely on radio/chart play. Seriously? Have a personality.

Bling's fun but it shouldn't be the deciding factor for quality.

Watch. Certain people will only like the next album and consider it a "good" album if it goes #1 and has a bunch of top 10's.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

You say this but you have to remember, loads of Gaga's fans, in fact the majority of Little Monsters are also Lana fans, who has none of the chart success glory going on, it's all about the music. Most people love the artist at the end of the day but everything is so much better when Gaga also slays the "lessors"
