Bad Bromance

Gaga reintroduced me to pop music. At the time, I was listening to a lot of alternative music, and I had an anti-pop bias. Then, Gaga let the light in. I fell in love with her music. After that, I rediscovered pop musicians I loved in the past, and I familiarized myself with Gaga's contemporaries. If it wasn't for her, I may have not reembraced pop as soon as I did.

So what you're saying is that Gaga saved you.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Same as a lot of people here, I was into rock, hip hop rap, and hadn't paid attention to pop in ages, so gaga reintroduced me to it

Head Empty

I don't think she really had much of an effect, except for the fact that 70% of what I listen to is her music :emma:

I didn't listen to pop at all when I first got to know Gaga. And I still mainly listen to alternative/classic rock and indie music, except Gaga is sitting at the top of my playlist

So that rock inspired album better hurry up so that I can feel sane again:coffee:

When I started listening to Gaga, I instantly got hooked. I would watch every interview, and she would talk about her influences, like David Bowie, Madonna, Grace Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Cher, etc; and I just started to listen to them. Also, when watching her music videos, I would click on the suggested videos, and I discovered Cascada, Marina and the Diamonds, IAMAMWHOIAMI, Bjork, Melanie Martinez, etc; And because of fan made songs, I learned about subgenres like Trance music and Witch Trap, and now I ACTUALLY buy music because of Gaga, instead of illegally downloading it.

Where to begin?

Gaga made me truly fall in love with pop again. When I went to high school, I was so depressed and all my friends started listening to rock and going goth, so I went in that direction too. But after I left school, I rekindled my old love of pop. It all began in 2007, when I listened to Britney's Blackout and thought it was the best pop album I'd heard in years, but that was just one album. Then Gaga released TF the next year and not only did it hook me, but it caused me to truly wonder what I'd been missing out on by abandoning pop in my early teens and I started loving the entire genre again.

Then she started talking about trap music influences in the lead up to AP. Despite being a fan of urban music, I'd never heard of this in my life, so looked into it. Before I knew it, I was searching for videos of 20 minute "trap mixes" by a whole host of unknown underground artists and was using it to help in my twerking workouts. I'm actually disappointed she didn't put more of this influence on AP.

Finally, she started going jazz with C2C. I wasn't averse to that but jazz wasn't a genre I was exactly educated about or gave much thought to beside the classic standards. But after that album, I'm giving this genre a much bigger chance and would like to hear more attempts at new releases because you don't hear much of it from mainstream artists, just the more experimental, indie ones (which is a subgenre of jazz that I definitely can't get on board with, all those irritating trumpets and things). I'd like to see what Gaga can take it in the future as a mainstream artist.
