Selena Gomez gets crushed by fans in Paris

Ok, I wouldn't necessarily make a thread about this, but as the thing unfolds I'm getting more and more angry.

Selena Gomez arrived in Paris by train a few hours ago, and apparently she was violently crushed by fans at the train station, which led her to cry, according to some reports. This was soon confirmed by a video showing the madness of the situation:

She later commented on the incident on Instagram, saying she was just overwhelmed by the situation:

But things didn't stop there. Apparently, fans stole a pair of sunglasses from the bag of Selena's stylist, and quickly bragged about it on Twitter like everything was fine:

Apparently, the glasses were given back to the stylist later on. But still. I'd like to use this incident to bring attention to y'all on the way celebrities are now treated in 2015. This generation of "fans" is a plague - they show no respect and no consideration towards the person they allegedly "stan" for. These are just a bunch of vampires thirsty for 30 seconds of celebrity, because they feel like getting a selfie with a star will make them more popular, as if getting close to a famous person could make them a little famous themselves. They are not fans of Selena Gomez or anyone else, they're fans of themselves. And I've witnessed this kind of behavior myself the various times I got to approach Gaga in real life. The disrespect is astounding. I think it's a really depressing observation regarding the youth that grew up with social media.

This is pretty tame compared to other artists, but it's definitely scary having that many people surround you.  Especially if you're claustrophobic.  I think there's a 1D video that's 10x this..

Horrible. Celebs are people too and i think a lot of people forget that and feel like they are entitled to do what they want to them because they buy their music or whatever. I cant believe people put someones health at risk just to get a picture or autograph.

Obviously not as extreme as this but reminds me of when people wait to see a celeb outside their hotel for days and then when they dont come out and greet the fans, start moaning about it. It not the celebrities fault you wasted your time on something that isnt guaranteed.

Yikes! I was scared a bunch of people would plunge into the elevator :air:

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

it's not that bad.

she even addressed a few fans directly towards the end of the video.

imo, it was fine. the organization could have been better, tho.

Whispering

:fail:Those idiots trying to get a selfie are the problem. It used to be that people would just take pictures, not step in front of people trying to move forward.

For all the people saying that things could have been worse, of course. But it's not just about what happened at the train station. It's also about the glasses being stolen. It's about the way we treat celebrities in this day and age. I'm not saying this was the worst example of fan hysteria, I'm saying that this happened today, and this isn't cool, and this is a good example of what's wrong in today's "stan" culture.
