freebit 6,240
I don't know who Brooke Candy is, but if she mixes fashion, performance art, and political theater then I'll have to check her out. But, when Gaga performed for the Queen she wore a latex Elizabethan dress and performed on a massive Salvador Dali inspired piano, that isn't comparable to her LBD tonight. There's still a general sense of of tradition here, just in a different venue. Of course a stage outfit is going to be more elaborate and showy because of the context of her performing. She was not there at the Emmys to perform. Showing up to present an award, but not trying to outshine is basically an unspoken code of award season. Call the dress boring all you want, but she was appropriate (yet she still kind of outshined a bit anyway just by virtue of being Lady Gaga, but whatever). (I can't believe you're on a Gaga forum, but don't know Brooke Candy, but she basically walks an Asian toddler on a leash at the end of Das Me to make a statement on upper class mothers adopting foreign babies and showing them off IIRC, I personally found it in bad taste anyway, especially as she called the image "pretty ****ing cool", but to each their own)
SEANGT 5,299
Lady Gaga has done so much low key meta performance art that nobody can help but read into everything lmao. The sad part is idk if some of y'all are right about the motivations for some of these looks or if it's really just her being appropriate for the event/promoting brandon

She was also promoting her friend's clothing line. I get it. I'm not denying that. It's just not a style of fashion that I care for. A tiny fraction of the users on this site (by tiny fraction I mean me and maybe one other person) voiced their dislike for Gaga's Emmy dress and we were met with a tidal wave of people saying "everyone needs to calm down, I can't believe yall are having a melt down, only this fan base, yada, yada, yada..." Like guys, relax, this site is more fun when people have opinions that are different then your own. When it comes to Lady Gaga, who is a punk raver getting puked on one minute, and in a ball gown singing with Tony Bennet the next minute, there are bound to be a wide spectrum of fans. When one fan dislikes what another fan likes, it's not a personal attack, it's just people having different tastes.

Blue Jeans 3,815
Oh can you all shut he f*ck up, the EMMYS were not the time or the place for Gaga to wear something "GAGA"this night wasn't about her, they were celebrating TV, a world that she's not part of it yet, and I'm glad she was respectful towards the actors nominated, there's is a time and a place for everything, and this was not it.OT: She really did looked beautiful, i wish her hair was a bit longer tho. Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen

OT: She really did looked beautiful, i wish her hair was a bit longer tho. I don't get it. To be what some people here want means they want her to conform to what they want all the time. Maybe she is wearing exactly what SHE WANTS. It's the Emmys, which is the Oscars of TV. She was going to be sophisticated, not outrageous anyway. But the fact that she went even further and was practically the only person on the red carpet not in a gown with her tits out makes her completely unconventional.. The focus was complete elegance to a bygone era and all focus on her face and hair, no boobs or slinky gown or bright gown to distract, just classic lines. The fact that she shocks people by being iin this ensemble is true to who Gaga is, unpredictable. I call it genius. Yep, this. To all the people complaining that they don't like the certain things about certain looks, the great thing is is that Gaga changes drastically monthly or even weekly. Don't like blonde hair? She'll probably have it brown in a few months. Don't like her bleached brows? She'll have them black within half a year. She's the queen o' pleasing the peasants. GUYS. Stop. She is also promoting her DEAR FRIEND's clothing line and wants him to get as much good press as he can for his CLOTHING. This isn't about her artistic integrity or 'lack thereof' just because she looks conventionally beautiful... she is literally just doing the dress and Brandon justice by not having a WIG ON and STUDDED BROWS. It's really not that deep. Some of y'all need to calm down. It's just one red carpet appearance, it's not like she's changing her entire career to conform to the public. Some of you are making a big deal out of nothing. It is not like she hasn't dressed "normal" before? At least she's getting some coverage and good reception for it this time around. All these posts in this thread alone talking about "all the people complaining" about her look tonight, meanwhile I can only find one other user on this site (Harroon) other then myself who actually disliked her outfit. This site has a real knack for creating drama out of thin air.

Yeah, great point, I completely agree Gaga's such a versatile artist that attracts different types of people (who all love her for different reasons). I need to make a new thread just talking about how mad you are. Bullying shouldn't be accepted here. I think your response really sheds light on the MASSIVE bullying problem on this site, as well as the recent trend of racism, homophobia, satanism, misogyny, and hatred of the disabled and elderly. Reported, twice. I've called the police too. Kevin Parker, Mac Demarco, Mark Ronson, and a stoned Lady Gaga. Need I say more?

I'd like to apologize to my Mother, my high school English teacher Ms. MacDonald, to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and most importantly to Lady Gaga, I have let you all down, and I am so sorry...and I swear the next time Gaga wears a simple black dress I will pretend to like it, I will even fake a YASSS GAGA.Forgive me. Please. Not even near good enough. You deserve to be shamed and embarrassed for your disgusting actions. Spreading negativity is one of the worst sins you can possibly commit next to murder and sodomy. How do you think Lady Gaga feels when she reads your filthy putrid comments on her dress? Do you want her to kill herself? This look is her best look of her entire career and probably the best look she will ever have. THAT'S FACT. Reported you again for harassment and misogyny. Levine 23,594
A lot of praise for only a black dress. : A simple black dress is not very easy to wear. If you can't wear it, you'll look like a trash bag.
