it kind of irks me that it took gaga to start looking generically pretty for people to actually pay attention to her beauty, message and voice and i hope she doesn't continue with the glamour stuff too much into the album era, even though people will turn on her for her fashion yet again. I agree she looks beautiful & the GRAMMYs this year was one of her best looks ever BUT I feel annoyed that it had to happen and they couldn't take her seriously for her beauty, message and voice when she had a Meat Dress or was talking about rape at SXSW by using art to express the disgust. Don't get me wrong, I am ALL FOR Gaga getting praise but am I alone with this opinion?

Guys shes more intelligent than anyone knows. Its probably part of something bigger! What if its all part of LG5 and the message hehe! Shes knows what shes doing! Wanted to add this here too. I honestly think theres a reason behind it with her. Shes doing it almost like she knows what effect it will have. More than just trying to win back the GP and media. Theres something else. The looks on her face lately, shes got something going on in her mind and I don't know if any of us will be ready when she starts it all :D

I wish there was more praise when she wears her more artistic stuff too. But there is definitely something too this, our Gaga is a smart and free b**ch!

I beleive its all for a reason and purpose.

I just had a random though though, during Gypsy when she said things like remember this time when we all chucked glitter on each other's faces etc etc like wrapping up an era at the end of the artRAVE. Like she wasn't saying goodbye to all her creative and cray outfits and fashion was she? I doubt it because I believe she has a creative direction for it all but yeah just random thought popped into my head. Because after artRAVE it has been what you describe.

Well, generally speaking, most people would never think

a person who wrapped herself in raw meat is definition of beauty.

It is shocking, unusual and even crazy.

Beauty are always assoctiated with something more traditional than radical.

But this is obvious. And that is why she go tha route cos she feels loved now

her life is at happiest level, she got everything and she is engaged.

So she wanted to be woman, and to be pretty.

An interview with Brandon Maxwell revealed to me that she only recently started to feel comfortable with her looks (and inhuman beauty). The outlandish fashion is not over, don't worry about it. She is just more strategic now about when she whips out the crazy.

Does anyone remember Mid Way through ARTPOP era where she was saying she was feeling pressure from her management to strip back her look and be classically beautiful ( like she is now) And that she didn't want to do that...

I think she didn't want to dress that way then because someone was telling her to do so, now she's doing it because she wants to and feels that it's appropriate (and not just for the award show in question, but for the part of her career and the situations she has placed herself in lately she probably wants to come across as more business-like and mature, but also still very attractive).

It's sad tbh. The GP can't look past crazy outfits or consider them, they just dismiss them as attention seeking or weird. She's gone through phases with every album:

The Fame - Popstar glam (really popular)
The Fame Monster - Dark, borderline gothic (hugely popular)
Born This Way - Birthing, "ugly", odd ("she's so 2010")
ARTPOP - Classical art with modern tech influences ("what a has-been FLOP")
Cheek to Cheek - Jazzy 20's-40's looks with modern flare ("wow! she looks normal!")
Pre-LG5 - Continues to look classy while she attends award shows and films AHS ("what a lady!")
LG5 - The "Gaga" will return ("wow, she just went right back to freaksville." #dismissed)

She does what she wants, this is just an era that's more GP friendly. The public isn't the most open minded and intelligent bunch, especially when negative headlines sell better than positive ones.

For some reason, drink the start of btw, she lost her look that she'd had since she first broke through.

Her thing was to be impossibly stylish, with borderline unwearable designer clothing, and look perfectly styled from head to toe.

The born this way era began and suddenly her style was gone and she was wearing a steak and prosthetics, and silly looking versace patchwork.

Gaga has never been quite as toned down as she is currently, but she was never as lost in fashion as she was during btw and ARTPOP.

She clearly adapts herself to the occasion. The Emmy's aren't about her, she knows when to own a spotlight and when not to. Plus, I think she mostly wanted to showcase her friend's exquisite dress, which would've looked awful if she hadn't opted for classic and simple elegance in the rest of her look.

Being classy lately is generic pretty actually, every female popstar has done it since everyone turned on the artsy and outlandish fashion in early 2012 when a new social phase began. All her contemporaries have done it conforming to the beauty trends since then, Katy has done it, Nicki has done, Beyonce has done it and many others have as well. Look at how the public view Miley because she dares to be slightly outlandish now; they call her ugly, an "example of why white people are terrible and stupid people" and all that other bull****.

The trend which she was so against in 2012 when Troy told her to do it, but now she has done it herself anyway, was there even any point in firing Troy in the first place then tbh if she was just gonna do it anyway? Who knows

What is important is that for the first time in ages she seems to have full creative control of herself again, and all these choices she is making are her own, and I don't think she has ever looked happier. I'd much rather have her here in a classy black gown because that is what she and her friends chose as opposed to what she was told to wear, whatever that may be. 

I know what you mean though, it's annoying that people are so quick to dismiss her talent and beauty whenever she does something outside the normal. I think she is playing it smart, she's showing off her talent to the world and building her image. After she has established herself as a true talent and not just a gimmick to the people who haven't realized it yet, I'm sure she'll go back to her more creative outfits if that is what she wants to do, at which point a lot more people should be tolerant of.
