Monster2015 1,117
I'm not a huge fan of Grace Jones, I just can't actually believe there are people here (and their parents ) who have not heard of Grace Jones. Y'all are crazy. Next you'll all say you haven't heard of Madonna or Michael Jackson yea but it really depends on the culture and upbringing in the music you, your family, your friends, etc listen to. Not everyone is going to know every single artist from the 80s especially if you've grown up listening to a certain genre. Hell I didn't find out about Madonna until I heard a rumor that mentioned lady Gaga and I looked her up and listened to her music and became a semi-fan. So you can't just assume everyone here knows Grace Jones.
Benji 20,113
I'm sorry but outside of fashion, that's all the influence Gaga had from her especially early in her career. And tbh Grace Jones's music isn't the "creme de la creme" she has her hit and misses as well just like every other artistGaga's music has a lot in common with Grace's, as pointed out earlier by SKANK.You can believe that she is "in their league", but your belief doesn't mean that is a fact or that the majority of people agree with you. People disagree with you or they don't have the same interests as you do. Why is that so hard to comprehend? I don't think I'll take the word of people who don't even know their own history and take offence to what members try to educate them in as fact. If you want to, that's your prerogative, but the lack of general knowledge just in this thread is enough for me to disregard a majority of the opinions. kiwifromvenus 508
Her music is actually overrated tbh.Creative aesthetic. Daring and risk taker yes. Her actual music though, eh meh weh. There is better. Gaga hasn't mentioned you really since The Fame era and broke away from everything during ARTPOP. For me ARTPOP was the era where she broke away from all the comparisons. You can't attach her to anyone from that era. So it worked nicely. Sorry Grace but get out our face.
crisTEAne 21,059
There's literally loads of gay genres of music though... artists literally identify as gay exclusive artists and make music for the LGBT+ community and sing exclusively about our struggles and themes we would generally enjoy. Your ignorance to your own community is baffling. Well I thought that's what you were implying by liking the replies I received? I didn't think you were petty enough to like posts that go against your own beliefs just because there in disagreement with me. My impact your inability to comprehend a simply statement is baffling. plus, gagz sure as hell doesn't identify as a gay exclusive artist. well, your reading comprehension skills failed you in that department as well. liking comments that argue that grace is not in the league of MJ or madonna—and, therefore, she is not as well-known as they are—does not mean that i don't know her. if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back
Gagadisiak 556
the only reason reason i know Grace is because of Lady Gaga ... :) Où est-tu ma Salope ?

No one said Gaga is a gay exclusive artist? She catered to the gays, but she's never been a gay exclusive artist..... You're just making things up now You liked comments before that, you absolute blinder

Sister 9,907
Never meet your idols.I am afraid that it is this, to be honest. Let this be a new rule, Gaga included. People will always let you down, may break your heart. I also think that it is wise to never name check or give out your sources, be all about yourself, not your influences, women especially. People love to break down a woman on top. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

You do realize everyone here isn't a gay guy that hangs out in clubs, right? Some people here are straight, female, too young to hang out in clubs, have been brought up on other genres of music outside of dance music. Some people here, who are Gaga fans, don't ever even listen to pop music outside of Gaga, and definitely don't care for dance music. Even if they do listen to pop, the chances that they have heard some dance music from decades ago might be pretty slim. (Especially if they don't hang out in the type of clubs, in the area of the world, that you hang out in) Why is it so hard to understand that people have different backgrounds and are interested in different music than you are? You liked a majority of Whispering's before I mentioned Michael Jackson or Madonna So you're saying, you don't agree with not knowing Grace Jones? You haven't liked any post that acknowledges her as a known person, even the posts that do that and then go on to lay into her. It's too obvious. The power I have to upset you with no intent, it's too easy.

Me and @SKANK aren't just referring to the music you'll hear in a gay club. You're also going on a tad of a tangent and it doesn't surprise me that you're missing the point but okay! If you're done chipping in with your unrelated tangent, your rock is getting cold.

I don't need to show you how to use the forum, dude, but there's page numbers at the bottom and top of the thread. You can click on the numbers coming just before this one (the one highlighted) to take you to that page of replies and you can then see what you have liked!
