Dominic 11,922
It's not difficult to understand how some people do not know who Grace Jones is. Especially the younger fans who were not around when Grace was of significance. As for Grace being an influence on Gagas music, who hasn't been an influence? She seems to have been the biggest fan of EVERYONE at some point so it is difficult to keep up. OT: What is it with these older female legends bashing Gaga and crying copycat? It's getting...reductive. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it
Benji 20,113
lmao, i'm sorry but there's no such thing as gay music or music that's "appealing to the gays." gagz pledged allegiance to the gay community because she feels compassionate about their issues: identity, liberty, etc. saying that she makes her music gay to use them is ridiculous on so many levels.Jesus Christ................ 1blueshe 120
I love Grace Jones but I feel people are taking this really personally. I kinda believe that gaga would have asked to work with her. She has said in the past she really loved grace Jones when she was younger. I mean if any of you became a big star wouldn't you want to work with your idols?
Benji 20,113
exactly. think twice before using the phrase "gay music" again. No, I meant that was the biggest mountain of tripe I think I have read here and I could honestly not think of a reply to it. Paper Gangsta 6,693
Only way I can rationalize this is that she had a different level of impact in different areas because a large majority of people in the U.K. would know her. She still gets on prime time talk shows on the weekend if she's up to something. So ure from UK ? Maybe she is only remembered there then ? maybe her success is local to UK. Like Rita Ora Grace is the Rita Ora of past century then I'm obv joking about Rita part. I don't think she will ever influence anyone

Firstly,"You know, my label a long time ago told me that my show is too gay and I was too gay or this was too gay...” - Lady GagaI was referring to them not caring that people perceived their music as gay. Secondly,"There's no such thing as gay music" is a factually incorrect statement. Queercore, Riot Grrrl, Homo Hop, there are a million sub-genres and bands dedicated to making gay music. It would also help if you knew your history, house music came from gay clubs. Disco burning rallies were used as symbolic homophobic lynchings, disco is gay. Dance music is inherently gay. Now take what I said and b---h about it on tumblr.

Now take what I said and b---h about it on tumblr. firstly, that quote is totally irrelevant. you said, their "gay approach" to music. that's not the same as saying that the perception of their music is gay. both statements are equally ridiculous, anyway. secondly, i think you're wrong. i still don't think there's such thing as gay music. what makes music gay? being performed in gay clubs or by gay artists? that's also ridiculous. however, if you wanna define gay music that way, fine. i don't have to agree with that. it's not a fact, rather your perception of it. i'm not b---hing, just stating my opinion. if anything, you're the one being ignorant. You're talking to a gay man who doesn't even know Grace Jones... like he would know the history his community comes from you're being ignorant as well. how the hell would you know if i'm familiar with her or not? stop with the personal stuff, or i'll report your ass. if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back
Monster2015 1,117
And you wouldn't be under that impression if someone kept on wanting to work with you but had no idea on what they wanted to do?Grace is acknowledging the fact Gaga wanted to work with her just because it's her, not for another reason.EDIT -Not saying it's "right" ... but like usual, you're all taking this further than it needs to be and calling open season on a legendary artist that influences Gaga.I'm sorry but outside of fashion, that's all the influence Gaga had from her especially early in her career. And tbh Grace Jones's music isn't the "creme de la creme" she has her hit and misses as well just like every other artist
Whispering 18,865
Seems crazy. Especially considering the fact you can type her name into Google News and she still fills up a whole page of news and reports in just one month. She's clearly still a topic on the table for many. Only way I can rationalize this is that she had a different level of impact in different areas because a large majority of people in the U.K. would know her. She still gets on prime time talk shows on the weekend if she's up to something. There's also a lot of people here who actually know her, especially now some of you are pleading ignorance to knowing her I'd argue she is definitely in their league, but if you disagree, that's fine. You clearly don't know much about her otherwise you'd be sat laughing at your own replies You can believe that she is "in their league", but your belief doesn't mean that is a fact or that the majority of people agree with you. People disagree with you or they don't have the same interests as you do. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

There's literally loads of gay genres of music though... artists literally identify as gay exclusive artists and make music for the LGBT+ community and sing exclusively about our struggles and themes we would generally enjoy. Your ignorance to your own community is baffling. you're being ignorant as well. how the hell would you know if i'm familiar with her or not? stop with the personal stuff, or i'll report your ass. Well I thought that's what you were implying by liking the replies I received? I didn't think you were petty enough to like posts that go against your own beliefs just because there in disagreement with me. My impact
