The singer is clearly targeting the pink pound by partnering with the gay dating app, which encouraged its users to “get it for the #GRINDR special price, NOW!” She isn’t the first artist to go down this route, with Madonna having previously given Grindr users the chance to win a signed copy of her Rebel Heart album earlier in the year. Grindr can be an unsafe place for vulnerable people, and to have fans of hers be enticed to create an account for the purpose of buying her album at a discount price might encourage them to stick around, or give publicity to the app to those who aren't experienced or know about it. There's really no point to this except to capitalize on her gay audience - one of the worst and most dangerous representations of such, no less. Personally, I find grindr disgusting mostly because young gays just coming out and still growing hop on the bandwagon and they don't realise the harm they are caught into... Furthermore, she has not even voiced her support for us (not that I am aware of). Sounds like a typical marketing move.It is a shame. In my messy era.
