  1. 1. Which style would you like for future tours or one that you think suits Gaga best

    • Full performances of [then current] album tracks & shortened singles &/or mashups (possibly shorter show with less songs)

    • A similar style to BTWB & artRAVE - many shortened songs with as much as possible for a longer show

I hope no one takes offense but I've actually been waiting for her to adopt Madonna's way of choosing songs  You choose the songs based on the theme of the tour, they can be hits but they can also be album tracks that haven't been played before for a long time (or ever).

I mean, Madonna sort of pulled a Gaga by making a mash-up of shortened hits on her latest Rebel Heart Tour and from what I've seen it's universally criticized as a mess & I agree 100% with that and it's the reason I felt like Gaga's tours (only BTWB & artRAVE though) could've been so much better if she just said **** you and ditched those ridiculous same old versions of her hits.

But her recent comment on the impact of her jazz era on her future performances definitely gave me a lot of hope :legend: Though she was kinda being annoying when she said that performing your songs differently than they're on the album was a forbidden thing to do in pop music :air: I mean, girl, you know you're lying.

Madonna has a good way of choosing songs to fit the themes

She should take a leaf from the book of Queen Kate Bush.

"Hit singles? Why would I play those?"
*plays two full concept albums and a bunch of random songs vaguely relating to angels*

Casual fans, which make up the majority of tour audiences, want to hear the hits mostly. Casual fans don't care about themes at concerts...that's a diva stan obsession. The majority of fans just want a visually pleasing concert, with lights or cool gimmicks, where they can jump, dance and sing along with the music.

Well, that might be so, but that doesn't stop an artist like Madonna from ignoring those wishes and doing her own thing. 90% of Madonna's audience every night isn't obsessed with her and actually she's been getting criticized for not performing enough hits for decades :rip:

I guess you could say that Gaga's smarter for trying to please her audience more but it's not exactly proving the point of Gaga supposedly being more artistically challenging than her peers..

I totally agree. One thing I love about Madonna is how she does her tours. There are multiple sections, and each section has its own unique theme. Her old hits are usually reinvented. Kylie does these things too.

It's time for Gaga to perform new versions of her old hits in a way that still keeps the spirit of the originals.

I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.

Eh, Gaga still performed basically every song on her current album.

It really is up to the artist, as to how they want to structure their shows and present their music at that particular time. Gaga has gone down the path of theme based shows, but chose to do a different kind of theme this last tour...and it worked out for her, as well. Great performers are great performers, they can change up how they present their music and it works. Gaga fits into that category.
