I am disappointed that some of you are already ruling Gaga out.

Album wise, Gaga has always done better than Katy and they are quite equal on single sales. Gaga has more impact on pop culture and ,furthermore, when touring Gaga grosses more. The only thing Katy has on Gaga is number ones, and the general public. 

Honestly it would be no surprise if Gaga comes out all guns blazing for LG5 and says to her competition and general public "I'm back b---hes!". If everything goes according to plan the next era e.g. great promotion, appropriate single choices, great music videos and performances, Gaga will trump Katy.

But what about PRISM?

Prism is of course more successful than ARTPOP, but I think ARTPOP to some extent was also commercial, it underperformed clearly because it lacked promotion.

Thats the way it will go, I really think the GP are starting to place Gaga on more of a 'legend' platform than just another pop diva so I think she will get a lot of acclaim for her album; lyrically and vocally whereas Katy will more than likely release radio friendly bops and we all know how well her bops sell.

Single sales in the US, but I still consider Gaga to have the stronger sales worldwide. Europe and Asia loves Gaga.

We can't predict the future, they are both taking their time.

All I can say is that Gaga's wig on that pic is tragic.  

She was performing like 10 minutes later I think we can let her off this once.

By the way, it makes me so sick that monsters have lost their faith in Gaga... Like, I mean she's f*cking LADY GAGA. She has changed the music industry. Do you think it's too hard for her to obliviate Katy if she really wants to? She's way better than Taylor, Katy etc. These chics are not even on the same level with her. It travels me crazy that katycats and swifties come on this forum only to make Gaga look less powerful as if this is going to work. Gaga appears to be preparing for something huge. Sure Jan. Gaga's record sales and chart performances from 2008 say otherwise. In February of 2010, when Gaga won one of her BRIT awards, they said that when she came there last year, nobody knew much about her. I think that says a lot about her career and stardom status prior to when Just Dance and Poker Face took off in early 2009. 

 

Let's not act like Katy is controlled or owned by her record label because she isn't.  

 

Are you talking about WW sales there? Cause if you are, then your deeply mistaking. Except for Born This Way, Katy's first week sales have been higher than Gaga's. Katy's first week sales have been rising with each album, so I'm not what makes you think that what you're saying might be true. Those numbers for Gaga were bad when compared to BTW's first week sales.

i'm a Katy fan so i won't say anything just to make her look bad, she's literally in my top 5 fav singers of all time but i'm just saying it how it is 

and if you would be so kind to share the chart data you have from 2008 and as i said assume you are right in 2008 she came out with One Of The Boys , I Kissed A Girl and Later Hot N Cold. You can't say that what Gaga came out with in 2008 (The Fame) did not outshine the whole OFTB Era i mean Poker Face alone sold more than all the singles of OFTB and TF sold more copies than OFTB so it's literally pointless if she was more well know than Gaga in 2008. Also say that no one knew Gaga at brit 2009 , everyone will be like OMG who is she , i wanna know more about her , what's her name. Gaga is a person of interest and no can take that from her where as if no one knew Katy they won't bother to ask about her , she looks normal and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm no Katy fan, but we need to stop being delusional lol. Katy has been the bigger commercial success for a little while now, and we need to just accept that. Of course it could change, but...

Guys, I think you forgot that Katy has only one album, which is more succesfull than Gaga's and it is Prism. TF,TFM and BTW slayed so hard and I think that Gaga will continue with he success. If gaga put album out in right time she will slaying the whole year and Katy etc. will be less relevant

Prism sold 280k with one of the biggest hits of the year (and less than Gaga worldwide..)... If Gaga could keep promoting the ARTPOP after its release and promote (with a video) DWUW ,she could have easily outsold or sell as much as Prism..Also let's not forget that before and during the ARTPOP era people hated Gaga and weren't here for her. ArtRave had just 79 shows..Prismatic Tour had over 150 shows...

Yeah maybe it could have, but it didn't. And Roar was bigger than Applause from Day 1.

And the average ticket price per show was higher for Prismatic tour than ArtRave, even with more dates. Sad but it's true that it was a bigger era for Katy.
