Bad Bromance

Wasn't there a scene in the last movie where it was confirmed he was bis-xual?

Here it is:

"What makes you think it's my first time?" - in regards to hooking up with a guy

Thanks for posting!!  This is a super hot scene.   :hor:

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Really, not everything need to be fixed.

James Bond was created as a straight guy & spy who is a womanizer.

And we should leave it at that.

He is not created black, or bis-xual, or an androgynous woman.

So why pushing the character to be someone else just for the sake of gender or racial equality?

That is more offensive than anything tbh.

Oh you are black, oh you are a woman,

let's make you into a lead of this famous character that people know

because we fight for your equality.

That is like,

"Oh hey let's make Hermione a femme gay man cos equality hurr hurr!"

I would be more satisfied if there is

an original spy character that is created specifically as a woman,

or gay or Asian or black and being and icon on its own right.

Really...... Bond is Bond, if people want Bond to be black or Bond to be a woman or whatever, just do another character.

I know that a lot of people want Idris Elba to be the next one, an idea that I'm not a big fan of. I know that it's an unpopular opinion, but Bond is a white British man and that's the way he was written. Would you imagine a white guy playing the part of a character that was written as a black character? The uproar that would cause. I don't know, the idea would just seem like a bad publicity stunt, and it wouldn't serve any purpose in the story. And I'm not here for minorities to be instrumentalized like that, just for the sake of it. Let's create a new, meaningful black spy character in which Elba would be able to kick ass.

Why do women have to be reduced to spin offs? Wouldn't it be better if they led their own franchises/legacies instead of being a "version" of something traditionally male?

It would be better of course, but the topic is talking about James Bond and unfortunately it's impossible to do a female James Bond.. it's just won't be James Bond anymore but a different movie, so only a spin off can bring a female agent..

No because its James Bond. Like with Doctor Who it could be done, but not with James Bond. It really doesn't make much sense

Salt was exceptionally great as a spy movie and Angelina Jolie was the central figure and I'd think she, Charlize Theron, Zoe Saldana, and/or Scarlett Johansson would be prime candidates for a big spy franchise like Bond. But I don't want just a female Bond, I'd prefer an original storyline and series to make it stand out and not be just a knock off of past work.

I think a film about Black Widow starring Scarlett Johanssen would be great, like a closer look into her background and how she became an Avenger. Of course, I'd still be here for something completely new and fresh.

Put your hands up... 🖤

This isn't even about that. :rip:

It's about pushing the boundaries of acting. Why couldn't a woman play a straight man who is a womanizer? Acting is an act of transformation and if the actress is up to the task, why not?

Throughout history (since old Greece) we've had actors playing characters outside their gender role.
