itsdominik 16,845 Posted September 4, 2015 Share Posted September 4, 2015 According to a nation-wide survey made by "Market", 74% of the population in Austria want gay marriage to happen and demand full equality! Lots of NGOs here have made a petition to collect signatures in order to force the parliament here to discuss marriage quality. They have to collect 100,000 signatures until March 2016 and they have already gotten over 40,000 signatures in only 1 month. What's interesting and also very suprising (in a good way) is that 66% of the over 50 years olds are here for gay marriage as well. 82% of over 14 year olds demand full equality as well. There's 5 big parties here in Austria: The ÖVP (the biggest one), the SPÖ, the FPÖ, the Grünen and the Neos. The SPÖ (2nd biggest party here), the Grüne and the Neos are fighting for gay marriage. Lots of members of the biggest party, the ÖVP, are also here for gay marriage, but they are still the minority within their party unfortunately.
