It can receive a 4K transfer if it was recorded on Film, yes. But, knowing Interscope, their probably too lazy.

Basically this, idk if it was recorded on film, but why would they bother to transfer the video 6 years later?ugh I wish they did this back on day, and release it in a decent quality, the highest quality version I've seen actually is the version VH1 HD airs, and the vimeo link (but the file itself, not the vimeo streaming)  in a mp4 file. Everytime I watch these files I get so angry bc everything looks so blurry, and this masterpiece had to be released even in 5k

Bad Romance (like a large number of Lady GaGa's videos (including Alejandro) and the majority of cinema films) was shot on 35mm film (which is one of the highest quality formats). The reason it wasn't released in HD was because HD wasn't the standard for online videos back then and they probably didn't bother exporting the finished video in that quality. The good news is that it is very likely that they transferred the film prints for editing in at least 1080p HD (and even if they didn't they could probably re-scan the negatives), but they'd probably have to export the video again in a higher resolution if they released an HD version and I doubt they'd do that when they can already make money off the SD version :(

They did save it in HD, it's just that at the time of the upload HD was not accepted by YouTube.

FYI big music videos are shot with cameras used for cinema, which means they shoot in 4k.

4k is the necessary resolution to get a sharp image on a cinema screen. Just taking the opportunity to put it out there: 4k TV screens are a scam. Unless you plan on having a screen as big as a cinema screen at home, which is pretty unlikely, you won't see any difference between a 1080p and a 4k image. It's just a marketing strategy to make people feel like they're upgrading, when in fact getting a 4k image on a living room screen is an aberration.

Actually, they aren't a scam. You can indeed tell a significant difference between 4k and 1080p. While most content put out today is in 1080p, there exists a multitude of growing content that these screens can display in 4K.  Most notably, PC games that can render in 4K (I have a graphics card that's capable of it, along with games that support it, but I can't afford a 4k monitor )

true. but some film production company some of it in hd. not literally it but closest we can get to it. i wont say what and which one. cuz its already out.

receipts, the highest quality I've ever seen (I have seen upscales, movs,. vobs files and they were standard HQ, not SD-LQ like YT one,) is the VH1HD .ts file (such HD and such Dolby surround [with the appropriate earphones you can hear heaven playing it ??] also, from the video director's vimeo channel + his website + the vimeo link Vidar posted (wich is basically the same as the directors vimeo quality) and a true vob file from the BR DVD retail, as far as I know it isn't available in more than real 720p hd (on videopool websites) Sooo if you're sure this is out there link ussss

there's 2 film production company that is on the set of bad romance and one of them has the HD footage.
