I know many people who immigrated there for economical reasons. i dont kno about Australia but Canada has always had a very high rate of immigration in relation to population For decades we added the equivalent of 1% of our population with immigrants yearly. Though that number has dropped to 0.7%, its still one of the gery highest in the world additionally its not just general immigrants, we already take in many refuggees every year... To take additional ones from this situation could prove to be too much. You can only safely absorb so many per year

TiphEret 1,320
look at Germany example, and Iceland has less inhabitants than this city. Muslim people have way more children than anybody else plus strong cultural identity. They do not accommodate to the place they live in, they just live as they used to. It's theoretically not a bad thing but they will outnumber Icelanders very quickly.i really do understand why these asylum seekers need to be hosted however things are not just black and white in this world. Especially when it comes to religion.I don't think you can speak about every muslim nor syrian though. Not all of them are muslim and I think when a country give you chances to integrate usually people do. And what do you mean with Germany? Luc 4,776
There is a chance that it may no longer be considered one of the most progressive countries over the years. Muslims tend to vote progressive parties because the progressive parties are supportive of a multiculturalist society. This way muslims indirectly voted in favour of transgender rights for example This article is interesting. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/opinion/Economic-migrants-not-refugees-30267769.html Also, why aren't Australia and Canada taking many? I know many people who immigrated there for economical reasons. Not a very objective article... Australia and Canada are very far away, and there's no war in a neighbouring country basically

I know many people who immigrated there for economical reasons. This article makes it look like refugees have a say when they move to a country. Like they all want to ove to Europe when clearly it would be easier for them to go to a closer country so they get a chance to return home. The family of one of my danish friend is from Iran , they migrated due to the revolution, and Denmark was the last and only country that took them in, so they took the chance. I think the writer of the article should stop living in a fairytale thinking that refugees are normal migrants like westerners are and have a say in going where they want...
