Harry 26,836
this is so true and not just in strawberrys case everytime a female artists is s-xual members here call them attention *****s and sluts but if a female artist is like lets say taylor swift they are boring Exactly. Can you imagine if Justin released a song bragging about all his infamous moments and how bad he is, or whatever it is Strawberry suggested he does? The outrage I can't believe that was a genuine suggestion
Jesse Pinkman 4,660
Its okay, his voice sounds pretty good. I'm sure his album will contain some r&b material. He most likely released a pop song as the lead in order to break back into mainstream radio. It's science, bitch

StrawberryBlond 14,582
No one cares about dance music anymore? Lean On? Cheerleader? How Deep Is Your Love? Across Europe there's literally a new dance song smashing every week. Even Where Are U Now is way more EDM than WDYM and that was a hit very recently with very little promo, so that kind of trumps every tenuous point you tried to make. Don't try and talk about repetition in the chorus when we both stan for Lana Del Rey I know how much you love to talk smack about artists as per your bias and pretty much every single prediction post you make is unreliable so I don't know why I'm trying, but still. Everything is pointing towards this being a hit. As much as you don't like it, this song has been received well so far by the GP and critics. It's not a masterpiece, but it's a fun and sleek pop song, and it's inoffensive nature is clever. Why would he go the controversial bad boy route when he has one of the worst images right now? If he did that you'd be banging on about how bad of a role model he is no doubt. Just please stop with your incessant nonsense for once, Justin clearly has the odds in his favour with this one It's a very different type of dance music to this, though. This is more chillout EDM and that sound certainly isn't that big. EDM has to be a big floorfiller to be majorly successful. And a lot of them are heading more towards a house style too, especially in the UK. I'm not saying repetition is bad, just this phrase in particular isn't exactly a compelling one to hear over and over. Being constantly asked what you mean is annoying, not something you'd want to hear over and over in a chorus. I don't badmouth artists because I take joy in it, I say it because it's how I feel. I'm not biased, if something is good or bad, I'm not afraid to say, regardless of who we're talking about. I didn't actually make any predictions, just said that I didn't think it's the best direction to go in. So its been recieved well...so? That doesn't mean I have to change my opinion accordingly. I think its inoffensive nature is one of its biggest downfalls - not having anything so strong to pull anyone into a love or hate camp, just a meh in between. No, I'd actually be saying that he's being consistent and real and keeping up with the bad boy thing. Rebel images can be manufactured and I wouldn't have been surprised to know that Justin's management ordered him to be a rebel recently to make him more desirable because girls love a bad boy. I've always said nothing can be taken for granted in this business. We'll see how it pans out. Justin's yet to have a #1 in America or the UK (or anywhere, really). Really, what are the chances he'll achieve it now after his reputation is what it is? this is so true and not just in strawberrys case everytime a female artists is s-xual members here call them attention *****s and sluts but if a female artist is like lets say taylor swift they are boring It depends if they're making good music or not. I'm a lot more open to bad influences if they at least put out something decent. If you have no talent and have to rely on nothing but controversy to sell, that makes you nothing more than an attention w***e. For the record, I actually liked Miley's album. And I think Taylor is boring for many reasons but it isn't for the mere reason that she sings a lot of ballads - they're unexciting ballads. Exactly. Can you imagine if Justin released a song bragging about all his infamous moments and how bad he is, or whatever it is Strawberry suggested he does? The outrage I can't believe that was a genuine suggestion Like I said before, it would be bad, but at least it would be real. This song just comes across as insincere after his big image overhaul recently. It sounds too young for him considering his age and the things he's done. At first you were criticising the song for following a trend and now you're criticising it for following what you deem to be an unpopular one? At least have a little consistency. "So its been recieved well...so? That doesn't mean I have to change my opinion accordingly." - True, but most of what you're saying is based on how he will perform commercially. "not something you'd want to hear over and over in a chorus" etc. Justin isn't exactly old, he only just turned 21 He's younger than you, no? This song to me sounds more mature than a lot of his previous work, and the lyrics/subject matter are pretty much in line with other hits that are out there right now in addition to the production and his delivery being sleek. Once again, you're just nitpicking. Yeeaaaah, girls really love a bad boy... Especially ones that spit on their fans and piss in buckets. You want him to make a song in line with those? Because that's how people see him. Please. Lately his team have obviously been trying to turn his image away from what it was. Why would anyone want to be perceived that way? With the Comedy Central Roast, his appearances on Ellen etc... They want to make him seem more accessible, and it's obviously worked. Face it, artists you don't like don't stand a chance in your eyes. You are just clutching at straws to downplay whatever Justin has done here. You made up your mind before you even pressed play. No, I'm criticising him for following a dated trend that doesn't feel true to him. A dated sound can be passable if it's what the artist is all about but Justin has been urban influenced for a while now and this electronic approach seems like it's not the real him. No, I am basing this on my personal views of the song. Everything I said about it is a personal viewpoint, nothing to do with how it will sell. It might have correlations to how it will sell (if I don't think the chorus sounds appealing, maybe other members of the public won't either). I'm saying it doesn't fit my definition of what a lead single should be. Out of all the topics he could make his comeback single be about, he chooses the one of girls not being able to make up their mind? That's not the sort of thing that says "I'm back, pay attention to me." Are you kidding? This type of track should be considered too babyish by anyone over the age of 18. And yes, I am older than him and even I find this so uncool. Don't the kids want to get down to more risque, explicit stuff? I thought some of the stuff on Journals was more mature than this. Where's the Justin that tried to be all grown up with Heartbreaker, Hold Tight, PYD and Confident? Really, I'm not biased. In the current music climate, I want to be surprised. Justin has some surprisingly good songs here and there. I was interested to see where he was headed after his first half-decent turn with Journals, which went in a more gown up, RnB direction. Could he surprise us all and turn into a respectable adult artist? So far, I've been left disappointed.

To say "This is how I feel about it, does anyone else feel the same?" I bring up how the public might react because I'm interested in human reactions and interaction. When I bring up how other people should react (and this is a common thing reviewers do), it's just an off-the-cuff, genuine thing I'm saying, nothing that should be read into too deeply. God forbid I be passionate. Out of touch? I thought it was accurate. When we're young, we just want to be like adults, right? That's what Justin's been trying and failing to be seen as for the last 4 years. Oh my gosh I didn't mean it quite in that way! As someone who grew up when Christina was causing controversy with Dirrty and Eminem was at his peak and every song that went to #1 seemed to have swearwords in it, the stuff kids are listening to now seems a bit weirdly tame to me. I thought we wanted to be rebellious when we're young. So much stuff in the charts now is so uncool, it could never have been a hit years ago. I figured it was intentional to highly exaggerate the small distance of your age to the "kids" today. Unless that wasn't what you were going for, in which case I'm so sorry. You're quite young, is the thing, so the fact I found it satirical if that wasn't your intention should tell you something! I myself do want a level of controversy on the charts. It keeps music interesting. Anaconda was at least intriguing last year. It nearly went #1.

Well I have nothing else to say to the first part of your post because it's all just bias really and you won't admit it. You think just because he's done some douchey stuff he can't have real human emotion and experience relationship problems like everyone else therefore anything he releases in relation to those feelings are stupid and not genuine. If he dropped some rap single where he was explicitly talking about s-x and god knows what else, I can only imagine the essay you would write criticising every line. Please don't pretend you wouldn't
