Was 'Stripped' by Legendtina one of the most controversial eras ever? (at least, for a pop girl). Was it more/less successful (in all aspects) that In The Zone?

She had a super controversial song/MV aka Dirrty, which despite it flopped in the US, it was successful elsewhere. The performances were amazing (actually, i can see Gaga doing something like that. Look at the motorcycle, the sisters...)

Right after that, she released Beautiful. I don't think there's any other song by a pop girl that topped the level of impact that this song had...

I wouldn't call it "one of the most controversial eras" when not many people even remember that era.

Rat Boy

I think American Life was the most controversial era. People were literally calling her a terrorist. She was banned from radio.

Erotica was one of the most controversial era ever. That era spawn Madonna as a s-x icon, a s-x book, and pushed numerous boundaries.

Her nasty attitude really bit her on the ass. If she kept her mouth shut her career wouldn't be so forgettable. Mary J Blige said it right, She may have a good voice but that attitude of hers wont get her far.
