Unlikely knowing Taylor Nation :fan:

I love both albums, but EMOTION literally does everything 1989 does but better to me. Better hooks, better melodies, MUCH better, more 80s inspired production, better lyrics from a "pop" sense of being able to put yourself into them... a better "theme" in terms of being an open ended bubblegum pop album with a title that fits every single song on the album... Carly's Innocence and pop flair is super apparent in her lyricism. 1989 may be more "personal" from a T-Swift perspective, but both albums are very relatable. I just think CRJ's almost "anonymous" perspective makes the lyrics seem much more personable than what T-Swizzle did this time around. I also think CRJ and Taylor have similar singing abilities; limited but effective for what they have. That being said, Carly has the voice for this kind of music, but it also lends itself well to alternative and indie stuff. Taylor sounds kind of the same no matter what she does :emma:

Also, She had songs like All that, Warm Blood, Black Heart, and Favourite Colour, and Taylor could NEVER

Anyone who says 1989 hasn't heard E-MO-TION

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

1989 is clearly a better album.  If you set aside who the artists are as if hearing the music before knowing where it came from, 1989 is sonically ahead.  I am not a TS fan either.  Good music is good music.

All That alone is better than most tracks of 1989. No shade, all tea.

Its not though. It's supposed to be 80's inspired, but its incredibly subdued... It kind of says "this snapshot of the 80s is basically it".EMOTION explores MULTIPLE sides of 80s pop and electronic music and does not use generic production. There are more prominent instrumental driven "hooks" on EMOTION as well. I think part of the reason why I love the title "EMOTION" is because its so wide and open to interpretation. All of the songs make you feel from so many different angles and different instrumentations and feels. Some are for dancing, some are for crying and thinking of a past lover, some are for overcoming things, some are for just being happy, and more. It covers so many fields and everything is very well represented on more than just a lyrical or atmospheric level. I LOVE 1989 as an album, its one of the best pop albums in the last few years, but I find that EMOTION actually made me "feel" more if that makes sense.

But I digress, I think EMOTION is sonically superior to 1989 in every sense of the word :emma:

Some individual tracks on 1989 > though ofc :emma: (Like "Clean" is absolutely amazing, so are songs like I wish you would, Wildest Dreams, etc.)
