What did you mean by "translate" her feelings then? It makes no sense in your argument.

It means that a song that generally speaks about rape is more direct that a song about Lady Gaga's ex boyfriend. Both songs are relatable but the first one is direct, in the second one the listener relates to the romance through Lady Gaga, it is very relatable but still less than TIHTY. That's my point.

I swear I don't see the point in this comparison. but this is me.

TIHTY is not about that. there's a message behind it. I recommend reading everything "NotBoris" posted on twitter...just sayin'

TIHTY >> BN

“Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”

I completely disagree with you. I mean TIHTY is actually vague as hell, it's no where near direct. I mean listen to the song and think about it being about stubbing your toe, or someone eating your last chocolate bar.... Seriously, do it. :rip:

Omg that's really funny indeed. :smh:

Seriously though noone is gonna think that. The same way you can think that in BN Gaga talks about her dog. :fat:

Let's not. :later:

I still don't see how on earth you think Brooklyn Nights needs to be "translated" but a song that literally is vague and says "you don't know how it feels" doesn't.... but okay, you've always been hard to talk sense into :later:

There is nothing vague about that line really, everything is just in your mind cause you don't like the song. :coffee:

That line can be translated into many serious issues in life anyway.

And really? I'm the one who is hard to talk sense into?:neyde: And you say that? :neyde: No offence :neyde:

I like the song. Just because I'm not praising it to the high heavens and dubbing it things like her best ballad, doesn't mean I don't like it. :later: I'm playing Devil's advocate, I mean you're claiming Brooklyn Nights needs to be "translated" .... but TIHTY doesn't? That makes no sense :saladga:

Even if you don't know the meaning of TIHTY your mind instantly translates it to many issues in your life, even if that's a broken relationship, a betrayal, being send away from home, d--g use, the death of someone close to you or even rape (which is why the song was written). That's why the word rape isn't refered anywhere in the song and the whole meaning is more general. That's relatable.

BN is a song about Gaga's love for her Ex Boyfriend, it's relatable and touching but it's just that.

TIHTY is more things.

What you're saying is that TIHTY is completely anonymous songwriting, which isn't a good thing.

You, by arguing that TIHTY is strong songwriting because the lyrics are direct and obvious (lacking subtext) and can be easily applied to many relatable life experiences. That's anonymous songwriting, the same kind of writing that you find in Katy Perry songs for example.

Yes but TIHTY is way more direct, everyone can realise the issue of rape and feel the pain

Many of the best Pop/Rock/Disco songs ever use anonymous songwriting.

All types of writing can be used both ways, good or bad. Don't put everything on the same bag.

The second (oldest) quote refers OBVIOUSLY to those that KNOW the theme of the song.

Don't even :smh:
