The second (oldest) quote refers OBVIOUSLY to those that KNOW the theme of the song.

Don't even :smh:

Yes but TIHTY is way more direct, everyone can realise the issue of rape and feel the pain while with BN the song is personal and you need to translate Gaga's feelings and situtation to one of your own which makes it less emotional.

Are you really doing this now? :smh:

It means that everyone can understand the weight of rape as a social issue, not that everyone can undestand it talks about rape. As I said above this post refers to people that already know the theme of rape (since you had already mentioned it in you previous post). :emma:

You can do better than this though, trying to prove me wrong by using my own direct words, I know very well what I've said.

Once you've made your mind up, I'm sure this would be a far more thrilling debate. I mean you can't say Brooklyn Nights needs translating when you can't even decide if TIHTY is direct or open.

If TIHTY is direct, it's not easy to relate to. Not many people have been raped in comparison to just having a break up with someone.

If TIHTY is open for interpretation and can be applied to anything, is it easier to relate to? Yes... but like you also said, BN good be about a dog? So, it's not exactly hard to really stretch your imagination to attach an obviously wrong message to a song.

Bottom line is, TIHTY is about rape, it's pretty obvious it is. BN is about breaking up with someone... that's pretty easy to relate to in comparison. :deadbanana:

Direct and open for interpretation are not opposites though, TIHTY is both. TIHTY is obviously about rape because the writers have said so. The first time I heard the song I didn't know anything about it and I can reassure you that I didn't know it was abour rape even after I heard it. The song is not direct about rape, it's direct about social issues in general.

Once again, relatable.

You just keep backtracking and running into different corners of your own argument.

Answer me this, just so I know you're not going completely insane. Is a song about rape easier to relate to than a song about breaking up with a partner?

Unless I'm mistaken, there's nothing in the song that suggests it's about rape. It can be applied to anyone going through a hardship that most others couldn't understand.

I always disliked BN, so TIHTY wins for me. :neyde:

And if this song wasn't in a documentary about rape, you wouldn't know it's specifically about that.

The lyrics are relatable and there is no tacky mentions of Rocky 4 and Briggite Nielsen's hair. :toofunny:

No and Yes (though it's much more bold). BN is not Someone Like You though anyway.

Anyway I'm really tired with this, let's end it here cause we are doing circles.:saladga:

I'm right anyway:hunty:

That's my point though... it's about "a hardship that most others couldn't understand" ... then there's Brooklyn Nights which is about breaking up with someone?

I'm not saying TIHTY is impossible to relate to, I'm saying that BN is easier to relate to.
