My friends and the general people around me either love/like her or are neutral about her :whitney:

Surprisingly a lot of them said they would go watch her live if she came coz they didn't go last time but heard it was amazing :whitney:

Nah, nobody I know really has an issue with me listening to Gaga. They were all super happy for me when I went to artRAVE, they were all asking me about the show, etc. A few people I know bop to her BTW era stuff, and my one friend is super excited for her appearance in Hotel.

My best friend is really indifferent about her. She doesn't really like her singing voice, and she thinks she's a bit weird, but she still respects my taste  My significant other enjoys her BTW stuff as well and bops to it every once in a while.

I've heard:

"she's a freak"   "she scares me"    "she's an attention *****"    "she's annoying"   "is she still around?" "does she still make music?"   "she's a guy"

it gets annoying tbh especially bc so many people have no clue what her personality is like. they only know her from award shows, the radio and music videos. People need to watch her interviews bc she'd gain so many fans if they just listened to her explain herself and her work.

I always educate the lessors on Gaga's brilliance tho, don't u worry

"Are you happy not listening to her?

Well, I'm very happy listening to her songs, and I think they're great. She's done a lot of different things, and I really appreciate the variety of styles she can perform.

So, if you want I can recommend you some songs you may not know and might like. Otherwise, if you're happy as you are, and I'm happy as I am, then we're both fine".

That's my answer. For everything, not only Gaga.

...I always pull up what i know the person would enjoy, be it acoustic, cheek to cheek, teeth, jaw dropping lesser known performances... I always make people go. "Okay, i get it" then they ask me to play said song... Every single time they see me.

I honestly don't associate with people who don't Gaga. I know that's childish, but I just have such a disdain for people who have negative impressions of her.

Their reaction is kind of funny. They just look at me, with that weird face lol.:awkney:

But then they are like: Lady Gaga? Oh, I like Ale Ale jandro... or a different one.

lol if someone is talking **** i'm gonna defend her or agree if someone else likes her but i don't need to bring it up, my connection with her music is for me, not them, they don't need to get involved

I enjoyed JesseBabe's comment that his "grandpa in his late 60's is not going to understand or get Lady Gaga."  It prompted me to register and enter this reply!

I am 60 years old, married and have 2 children.  I retired from my job of 37 years this past January.  The joke at work was that I was retiring to have more time to go "Gaga Stalking".  I first saw Gaga perform live at The Monster Ball on 03-31-2011.  My daughter invited me to go with her.  It was surreal.  It took me a couple of weeks to come back down to earth and I have been obsessed ever since.  I have seen Gaga perform 10 additional times since that first concert.  I have often stood (happily!) in one spot for 10 hours or more just to catch a glimpse of Gaga as she drove by.  I know that only another Monster can understand this!!

i love Gaga's music, the way she dances, her beauty and style, her sense of humor and her message of acceptance.  I have been through a lot of music but have never been as crazy about an artist as I am about Gaga.  I think she is amazing.

Jesse, I hope to see you and your grandfather when the next tour starts ?

Welcome to the forums! It's always fun to see Gaga fans who aren't teens cause it shows the diversity of her reach and her fanbase.  Hope you enjoy your time on the site! :hi5:

Hello munchkins.:flower:

So I work at the back in my local Hollister store and we're allowed to put our music on through a little speaker. Since I knew other employees put their music on many times, I decided to put ARTPOP on (minus Sexxx Dreams cause I feel that "touch myself" line would be a little too awkward to listen with employees I'm not too familiar with :rip:). It was just me and this other girl who only knew Poker Face but I knew she wouldn't mind me listening to my songs. So I'm putting ARTPOP on when one of my managers comes in and asks whose music this is so I tell him it's mine. He goes, "Hmm.....hmmm...hmm. It's weird. " Then I respond , "It's Lady Gaga. "

He then goes on to say that pop music is **** nowadays and I'm not quite sure if he was alluding to my music.

I felt judged so instantly and I knew I was going to get a reaction like that because I'm sure we've all had. You know when you say, "I listen to Gaga" and people are like :awkney:.

I personally am proud to say I'm a Gaga fan to people at any opportunity I can but I can't help but feel that judgement from other people (including my manager) and it really upsets me. People are so quick to dismiss pop music nowadays (especially Gaga) just to seem "alternative" and not part of pop culture. It upsets me how when coworkers put on music that's all about "f*cking p*ssy", it's played without question or judgement but when I, a guy as well, put Gaga music on, people find it odd and out of place.

I'm just wondering if you guys have felt what I'm experiencing and maybe provide an anecdote or two.

let me just say that I'm 36 years old, and when I was in high school (circa 1995 / 1996) and Alanis Morrissette came out with "You Oughta Know" - that was the beginning of my complete revulsion from pop music. From that point forward.... until 2010 (when I discovered Gaga) - I literally gave zero ****s and zero attention to all pop music.

My music interests have gone through everything from indie rock, psytrance, african music, meditation / world music, female singer-songwriter, jazz, funk, soul / r&b, downtempo electronica, dubstep, kirtan, etc...... I have a pretty vast music collection with everything from Kraftwerk to Yes to PJ Harvey to Snatam Kaur to Miles Davis to Lady Gaga.....

For me, I always had a huge judgment towards pop music. And admittedly, I still do. Most of it is total garbage - including most of Gaga's The Fame album. I really only like BTW & ARTPOP, musically... and I enjoy certain songs from TFM...

In all honesty, most pop music still makes me vomit. (see my Kanye West vomit post on the other thread.) I really do not like Taylor Swift's or Katy Perry's music - it's mental poison, imho.

However, I adore Gaga. I adore her, not because of her music, but because of WHO SHE IS. I admire her as an evolutionary goddess, a transmission of empowerment, a major free spirit in the celebrity world... She is the pop star I wish I could be and would have been if I had enough motivation to pursue that fantasy. She's an inspiration to me on a lot of personal levels, and I am always impressed by her musicality and her skills as a vocalist.... Which is why most other pop musicians (excluding Adele) I think are pretty much crap.

When I told my mother that I listen to Gaga, she told me that she's a d--g addict and I should look up to other 'better' people.
