Chic 20,830 Posted August 15, 2015 Share Posted August 15, 2015 The 16th transgender individual to have been murdered this year was lynched yesterday, totaling 6 transwomen of color this month. 2015 is the most brutal year in terms of trans murders, having beat out 2014; except it had already surpassed well before the 16th murder. Transwomen are being murdered at exponentially higher rates than the rest of the population with statistics saying 1 in 12 transwomen will be murdered, and 1 in 8 transwomen of color will be murdered. That is compared to the 1 in 6,000 rate of murder in the general population. Last week, in just one week alone the number of trans women of color who had been murdered surpassed the statistics for all of 2014. More TWOC died in one week this year than in every week of 2014 combined. She was 20. She was beautiful. She will be missed. Alisha was killed by the Latin Kings, which I assume to be a gang or mafia of some sorts, so it's likely prejudice related Edit: It is a gang. She was killed by Angél Arias. Let's hope those things change a lot. At the moment there are only voluntary organizations who do things like that (I'm working in one) but there are plans of the state government to make gender and s-xuality variety part of the education plan. Exactly. Of course there are some opposers who thinks that the kids get "gayed" so that they get educated to be gay :smh: Mostly Christian and Muslim fundamentalists here think that.
