TiphEret 1,320
I said behind the religious extremists.I'm convinced that, like other political-religious conflicts, there is an economic/political/power-related gain to be made that has nothing to do with religious motivation and the religious elements in this conflict are only to enlist people who are too dumb to see through that façade. People who are willing to even die for your cause are the perfect slaves. It's clear by now that ISIS' leaders are masterminds in strategy and political organization. Though their governments aren't exactly built on Western values, they have internal consistency and work on their own terms. This is no common band of rebels. I'm curious to see what's behind the veil of Allah here.I had a talk with a friend a while ago and he said that in many ways ISIS offers a very "normal" life for its followers: family, education, the whole package quite similar to western country but at least they aren't discriminated like they were for example in European country when people turn to ISIS. Yeah.. I can totally see the appeal of an ISIS-controlled society, personally. Though of course you'd have to identify as a traditional Muslim. Still, I think it's important we remember what people are seeing in ISIS. It's important indeed.
