The Isis militant group has released a photo purporting to show the execution of the Croatian hostage Tomislav Salopek.

The group previously published a video identifying the captive as a 30-year-old who was taken hostage outside Cairo on the 22 July. It threatened to kill him in 48 hours if Egypt did not release unspecified "Muslim women" from prison.

An image, circulated by Isis-affiliated social media accounts on Wednesday, appeared to show Mr Salopek's decapitated body. A caption in Arabic accompanying the image read that Mr Salopek, a father of two, was killed "for his country's participation in the war against the Islamic State".

No, he worked there. The day they kidnapped him was his last day of work. He was supposed to come home the other day.

I so wish ISIS could be dealt with asap so innocent people can stop dying (for their reasons, at least).

Rest in peace to him and my condolences to his family. Let him be a martyr, another driving force, in our fight to combat militaristic morons like ISIS.

Oh wow that's horrible! but was he targeted because he was Croatian, if they say they killed him because of the war his country has against ISIS?

At first it was thought they captured him by accident and they were targeting on someone who's French, but they probably knew who they were kidnapping.

It's probably by accident but when they found out who is he they made up reason so it doesn't look like they made mistake.

I mean that reason is so dumb considering whole world is against these devils

Can someone throw bomb and execute them from the earth.

I hope to find out what exactly the point of this, effective in any case in more than one way, tactic is. I enrolled in a course about political Islam and ISIS is included. I just wanna find out what the masterminds behind these religious extremists are really after.

Most of religious extremists want the caliphate state that runs by Sharia laws to return.

Most of the things ISIS does are actually from Islam. Like throwing males who have been seen by 4 men/8 woman from the highest building. But for example, lashing a person for not praying isn't in Islam, which ISIS did once.

I said behind the religious extremists.

I'm convinced that, like other political-religious conflicts, there is an economic/political/power-related gain to be made that has nothing to do with religious motivation and the religious elements in this conflict are only to enlist people who are too dumb to see through that façade. People who are willing to even die for your cause are the perfect slaves.

It's clear by now that ISIS' leaders are masterminds in strategy and political organization. Though their governments aren't exactly built on Western values, they have internal consistency and work on their own terms. This is no common band of rebels. I'm curious to see what's behind the veil of Allah here.
