Applause Vs Roar mess

I'll probably get dragged for this, but Applause was a good song but nothing more.  It did not have that special something that Just Dance and Bad Romance had that made you want to listen to it on repeat or was relatable in anyway... even Born This Way was more relatable than Applause, and I found Born This Way to be somewhat mediocre.  Basically Applause was not strong enough for a lead Gaga single.

Why do people forget about 

2008 Katy Vs 2008 Gaga they both started at the same time but Gaga outshined her as a new artist by miles , it was not till mid Teenage Dream that Katy received the acclaim Gaga did and by that time Gaga was revolutionizing the world with Born This Way. So really if Katy had one song that outshined Gaga's and an album that sold 100,000 more copies i don't see the fuss keeping in mind that Gaga had many mismanagement issues whereas Katy's manager said that they have been working on managing prism for a long while. Gaga can't always be on top and that was one of those times.

i wasn't talking about the fanbases on pop forums...i don't think media ever called out Katy for her performances or chart failure(Unconditionally performance would be an exception here) and why is it petty to be jealous of someone else's success...u can claim all u want but i bet at some point in ur life u were jealous of someone else's success too...on top of it,when ur work is paid dust and some other person in the same business is getting all the success..its human nature  

-If Gaga copied or was inspired by Someone,she was sincere enough to call those artists her inspiration...i don't think Katy (or Nicki)ever did that.

and its really tragic if u think Mechanical Horse and puke art were Katy's (or her team's) original ideas..cuz anyone with eyes and ears can tell the truth ,no matter how much u try to deny it  

When did the media ever call out a Gaga performance? Even the puke thing was reported without any specific bias. She only got serious backlash during Applause (because she was ripping off her fans to get a good chart position) and during the fake rumor of Interscope losing millions though that wasn't even reported with any serious negativity.

And no, I don't think a horse puppet is an original idea It's not Gaga's idea either though. Actually the first time I saw it I was convinced Gaga had been inspired by War Horse. A green wig isn't a Gaga invention either and the puke art isn't even Gaga's.

I totally get your point, but I just disagree where Gaga feels the need to actually call her out on some harmless and non-dramatic (since everyone with eyes and ears knows that Gaga plays with wig colors [though Katy did that at the same time when she started out], had the horse puppet and did the puke art thing twice, incl. Katy) copying of ideas that are reinvented anyway. That's what Gaga's whole career is based on.

But it's not important enough to discuss like this tbh I didn't even really mention it. I just said that the real mess was how those girls pretended to get along and Gaga put a match to it.

did u really forget those countless articles calling ARTPOP-"ARTFLOP",media comparing Gaga to Katy and discussing who is better,the fake Interscope rumor about artRAVE album party,SXSW backlash and many other things..if this isn't called biased criticism,then i don't know what it is

PRISM has 16 songs (if you include the deluxe edition), and Katy recorded the entire PRISM album from November of 2012 till July of 2013. I don't think she was half-done. She was pretty much done with PRISM by the time Gaga announced Applause.

I found articles from April 19th 2013 that reported that Katy had made the announcement that she was half done with the album. If she started writing in November and stopped in July, that means that each half was 4 months long. An album can indeed be made in 8 months but I just find the timing odd. Just 3 months after saying she was half done, she announced the entire album with the gold truck on July 29th, 16 days after Gaga's single and album announcement. And even though she announced her release second, for some reason, it was all scheduled to be out before Gaga's. That's the bit I find really fishy. Whatever the truth is, you can't deny it certainly looked like she had purposely set out to steal Gaga's thunder and the fan reaction was wholly justified. The whole thing may have worked in Katy's commercial favour but she lost a lot of respect from Gaga fans which is tough because, as you prove, there is some overlap with Monsters and Katycats.

I must admit, Katy and her team had me slightly pressed. At first, I was a little ticked off that Katy was releasing Roar a week before Applause's planned release date. I just wanted Gaga to have her moment after coming back 2 years after BTW. 

The way Applause leaked literally the day of/after Roar was leaked/released tho...August 2013 was a hoot.

Can't really blame Katy though for the clashing of promotional schedules
