yASSsss 35,510
You should have been brave katy fans scare me to death I always disliked Katy Perry. Everything is tacky about her. It has nothing to do with Gaga. I did get angry though when someone like her was overshadowing Gaga in 2013. Disgraceful... i luved her during TD era,but ever since PRISM came, I can't stand her No negativity in this site thank u if there was any negativity here, this thread would've been locked by now Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine
Riot Poof 2,236
"Roar" didn't deserve all its success. I'd be OK if "Applause" was outshone by "Dark Horse" or "Walking on Air," but it wasn't. I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.
Lee 62
Does anyone think that the media's craze of Katy Vs Gaga helped create a buzz around the two singles. Idunno whether either song would have sold as much without the other. Like the whole internet was in a flurry of comparisons, to do that they had to listen to both songs. I don't like Roar so obviously i think Applause should have charted higher.
TimisaMonster 31,073
...because roar sold more than applause? like what did katy do? gaga was the one throwing passive aggresive shade at her on twitter As I said...Katy puts on this facade that she has so much input in her work and yet we all know that's simply untrue. Katy just annoys me in how little effort she puts and gets sooo much positive feedback and success. Just because Roar sold or was viewed more doesn't mean it was "better" people wee just on the Katy high and Gaga unfortunately was off her BTW peak Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! gagaisitalian 3,573
I liked both of the songs and enjoyed both. The chart position didn't matter to me.

gagata 695
I dont care, they are good friend after all ! But Applause seriously better than Roar !!!!
sipthistea 21,099
Roar is SOOOO predictable, it's so cliché, it's the repetition of the pop cycle, where the producers re-cycle their material 'cause they know it's going to be a HIT. It may be enjoyable, but it is not memorable. It is just another KP song, and it sounds like every other of her songs.I liked Applause better (The message, the sound, The Gaga coming back again), although I expected ARTPOP to be even BIGGER in terms of sound. And Gaga's vocals (Except Dope). I think it's stupid and ridiculous to compare these two women. One goes for the same pop material, and the other one goes for the more alternative way of pop (Which is thrilling and exciting for me) Long live Applause
Jesse Pinkman 4,660
don't forget Gaga also shared her feelings towards Roar "Sorry about your truck!" BITCH. It's science, bitch
Thomas P 18,479
I love both songs, but lets face it. Roar is a more radio friendly, chart climbing hit than applause.I don't believe either track should have charted higher than the other. They are both number one in my mind!! I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
Bradley 59,023
Both are amazing songs. Applause is far from flop though, it just didn't perform as well as Roar but it was still a huge hit. One more thing, people should stop shading the people who are "chart-obsessed" like what's wrong with that? Who doesn't want Gaga to perform well? Better sales = more singles = more videos = more dates on tour = more Grammys and awards Btw, the fact that both songs are in the same key.
InsideOutright 1,118
I admit I'm still a little pressed about this even after two years, mainly because radio was showing a total bias in favor of Roar and other 2013 hits and against Applause and Gaga altogether. Gaga didn't deserve to have this happen to her. Now I'm really worried with how well her next comeback will be treated. Even disregarding the mess with Applause, I still hate Roar. It's my least favorite Katy song to date. The only Prism song I like is Dark Horse, but radio ruined it so much for me (payola ) that I couldn't even listen to it on my phone until a few months ago. I still hear Roar on local radio now and then, but I have to actually search for radio stations playing Applause around the world just to be able to hear it somewhere other than my iTunes, and that's not easy. When I search "Lady Gaga" on TuneIn, I mostly see Poker Face and Bad Romance. Roar? you mean Brave by Sara Bareilles? Oh, no no no, there's a huge difference between the two songs... Brave is actually good.
AddMeOnMYSPACE 2,004
Applause still a better song But i remember Exhale was having a field day about it as well! they were celebrating gaga's flop. Until "Work Bitch" Happened
