Whispering 18,865
those are all valid points... but if i was an American id worry rven more about Democratic economic policies that could ultimately destroy Americas prosperity. Their solution is to raise taxes on rich even more (when the US already has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the developed world, and top income bracket is almost as high as scandinavian taxes, in some cases higher because of state taxes which dont generally exist in those countries at the same level) Corporations are moving away (burger king ran away here to Canada recently) and they refuse to admit the issues... Then u get poverty and low business investment and they solve that by increasing help to poor by social programs by spending even more, instead of prioritizing in creating jobs so these struggling people can be productive while making a living for themselves... If i was an American my fav party woukd be the liberatarian... They progressive socially but right winged economically but it seems like in America only 2 parties ever get elected PS: u kinda proved my point. U didnt even comment on what i said about balance or about both parties not being right on everything, u just went straight to a long list of bashing for republicans without even touching at all on any potential flaws democrats might have i at least admit the things the party i support. Cuz theres not 1 party i agree with on everything. Even the PC here in Canada That's just it. You aren't American. If you were and you were black, Hispanic, female, or you had lived here for years as a member of the LGBT community, you might understand where the majority of minorities and people that care about minorities in the U.S. are coming from. No, what I did was give you a detailed explanation of why I can't vote for any of the current Republican nominees. Human rights and equality in the U.S. are the most important issues to me. How is that hard to understand? I never said that I agree 100 per cent with any of the nominees...in either party...just that I strongly disagree with the stance on human rights issues that all the GOP candidates are currently supporting. As I stated before, of one of them shows that they are more open to all of my major concerns, I will take an honest look at them.
ItsTommyBitch 12,640
... This and as you said, the list goes ON and ON Honestly, as long as the GOP continues to spout this whole "American Dream" meritocracy bull****, they are never going to see past their own faults or privileged perspectives ... That's all fine and dandy, but people are going to vote for what affects them PERSONALLY. I don't consider this method "selfish" as all people living in a country live different lives and face different struggles; some individual, and some symptoms of a flawed system that harms them... this is not just "trouble getting a job" its also things like systemic racism... And only one party seems to care about this or recognize its existence Tbh, not everyone has the privilege to cast their vote for what they may or may not believe to be the "greatest cause".... black people are not going to vote for the republican who wants to help out the "most people as possible" or "middle class" because in reality that has historically been code for "just white men people", and it literally leaves them out , For the record, I'm a radical; i dont even agree with Capitalism as a system But there's nothing wrong with playing the game and trying to make things better for people where we can. Anyway, going along the lines of "whats most important in the big picture", the environment should be MUCH more of a concern in America... yet Most prominent Republicans DONT EVEN THINK GLOBAL WARMING IS A THING The ones that do are like "okay, but its not our problem as humans, its just the Earth!" The reluctance to admit that there is even a problem generally tends to hinder progress on fixing things I too could go on, but the republican party, while not a monolith, seems to be a hivemind of social backwardness and corruptness and it entirely overshadows what little economic foresight they may have. The democrats arent perfect either, but they are at least Progressives in that they are not locked into 1 mode of thinking and are willing to bend and flex themselves as time and society advance... imo thats what makes a great country; not strong consistent beliefs, but open, flexible minds and people who are committed to make a change and adapt. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Whispering 18,865
^^^^Ah yes, I didnt even mention the environment or health insurance. One issue worries me greatly for the future and the other directly impacts some of my friends and family members...ones who didn't have affordable health care before for a variety of reasons. Then there is the fact that Bernie and Hillary are both making affordable college tuition and loans one of the priorities in their campaigns. That is something else I'm care about. Subsities to make things cheaper never works without backfiring housing default insurance to help modest ppl buy homes created a nasty housing bubble... when government started offerig more student loans, loan tuitions skyrocketed as it became easier for student to oay and colledges took advantage heakthcare in the us which has some government funding with medicaid and some other subsities has resulted in hige costs. Countries where its totally private often have it cheaper u either get government to run it entirally or keep it totally private. Dont mix government funding with private sector because companies only expand profit margins and dont pass savings. It never works

It never works Im not sure why you thought these points were immediately relevant to me... my post had nothing to do with specifics of economic platforms, nor did I offer up the "how" of what democrats profess to do, or plan to do if elected... seeing as they dont all have the same ideas and we havent even heard all of them yet Hell we are basically only focusing on Hillary and then sort of Bernie ... there are 3 others I gave insight as to why people are entirely justified in voting for things that benefit themselves or social issues And I still think that prioritizing a candidates platform on economics SOLELY is unwise... Many people focus solely on social issues because they are the most immediately oppressive and easier to change at times than other issues, but I've personally no interest in a candidate who is "proficient" in one category and ENTIRELY "inept" in the other, if even that. (And yes im arguing that democrats aren't inept in terms of economy ) 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

Either keep it private or allow government to take over (which for healthcare i support government run it since its not an industry where many elasticity laws of industry apply) And i do think democrats are inept economically. Whispering 18,865
And i do think democrats are inept economically. Sorry, in every way i look at atHere's the thing- everyone cares about money, but it's hard to put that as a priority when you are worried about getting shot or killed for a traffic stop. When you are worried about the lives of your sons and daughters, listening to a bunch of talk on Economic policies isn't your priority. When you are worried that you won't be able to afford insulin for your daughter, if they take affordable health care away, you only want to hear about what they are going to do to replace it.When you know that you can be denied housing due to your s-xual orientation or you can get fired from your job, for no other reason than you are gay, you want to know when they are going to make discrimination for s-xual orientation illegal in all 50 states. When you are a woman, which is 53 per cent of the voting base btw, you don't want to hear that they are going to make decisions over what you can and can't do with your own body, of that they are going to deny you other health services. The economy may be the most important issue to you personally, and that's fine, but it isn't for everyone. You live in a different country and a different world when it comes to many issues that minorities are worried about in this country. It's hard for most people to listen to details about economic policies, when they are worried about safety, security and basic human rights for themselves and for their children. Laws are extremely strict for everyone on that... companies here have gone bankrupt with massive penalty fines that were caught discriminating. And since this is hardwired in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms even the Conservatives cant easily take it away because the whole constitution would have to be re-written... So I guess from my perspective where the culture is extremely tolerant and the laws are very tolerant I might have a hard time understanding. However I still cringe at some economic proposals democrats make and I cant help feeling that
