*A live-action television spinoff of the X-Men universe is definitely in the works at Fox.

X-Men fans will remember that rumblings began earlier this year about Fox producing a live-action adaptation of some kind.

At the TCA press tour today (August 5), Fox co-chair Dana Walden acknowledged that negotiations with Marvel are ongoing.

"We're hopeful that we'll be able to announce something soon," she hinted, before cautioning: "We're not close to a deal yet, but it's something that we're definitely pursuing."

That said, don't expect an X-Men series to cross over with Marvel Cinematic Universe shows like Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil.

"The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side, so we won't be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney," Walden clarified. "This will be the franchise as it exists exclusively with Fox."

Fox Broadcasting is a part of a larger conglomerate controlled by 20th Century Fox, which controls the screen rights to X-Men and upcoming film spinoffs Gambit and Deadpool.

The exploitation really has no end in Hollywood..... Yaaaas, let's exhaust all those tired franchises instead of giving a chance to new ideas
