Flop eras started from Alejandro?

I've always wondered, Gaga had such a huge mainstream following prior to Alejandro. I remember all my GP friends were a fan of hers and had Poker Face, Bad Romance, etc on their phones. She had the most followers on twitter. The GP loved her. She was everywhere during TFM era.

But when the music video for Alejandro was released and she swallows that rosary in that scene, I can't help but think that--that was what made people believe she was "satanic" and an "illuminati puppet". And I specifically remember after the Alejandro music video, when the Born This Way video came out alot of the comments were "Thats it I'm done with her devil a*s", "I'm not a gaga fan anymore" etc

And then that was followed by Judas, and more people left her.

I also went back and asked my old friends and they all said They stopped listening to Lady Gaga after watching the video for Alejandro. One girl even told me she had her "spirit cleansed" after watching the video.. I deleted and blocked her ofcourse. :miley:

Also Alejandro peaked at #5 on Hot 100 and sort of became one of signature songs and after that Born This Way peaked #1 cause of all the hype.. and then the flop train started with Judas and finally Marry The Night becoming her first single to chart below Top 10.

And then the whole 2012 mess of waiting, and then ARTPOP came.

Do you think it all started because of Alejandro and the illuminati rumours?

No, it started with Judas.

But yeah, after Alejandro, even I was like "this is too dark, inappropriate and looks like soft gay p*rn, besides is blasphemous", but that was positive. A lot of straight male fans didn't like it and then came BTW with even more LGBT themes

I definitely agree that her more biblical approach with her music videos turned some of the GP off.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

Alejandro was a hit here and is one of the most remembered Gaga songs, in my flop country.

It has nothing to do with people thinking she's satanic or part of the illuminati.

However Alejandro did make her lose cassual fans and it can be seen as part of the decline imo.

Born To Slay

If the Born This Way era was a flop then the Prism must be as well tbh, considering it was way more successful

a lot of people I know thought she was s-xy and cool until the meat dress. They aren't religious or anything so they didn't care about Alejandro or judas. They just think she's really weird after the meat. They think she's cool again now though :)

She turned people off with BTW, everyone expected more from that album after TFM, plus the overexposure and the "be yourself" talk everywhere she went... sometimes it was annoying even for me :toofunny:

you know im kinda tired of all these "why did gaga flop?" "heres how to avoid a flop" "why ARTPOP flopped" threads. not coming for u but... why do you care? sure its nice to have ur fave be on the radio but maybe gaga is too ahead of the game for radio play. and shes on the news whenever she does anything so how is she really flopping? thats just my opinion tho. you can be critical of what she does, but i dont like these negative comments.

Ok ! The Rant is over ! I'm Calmer ! Well I'm not Calm but I Got so upset i tired myself out !

Alejandro was what distanced her from your generic female popstar

It may have put some people off initially, but at the same time it established her as a pop icon and not just your normal singer, so I'm glad it happened tbh

I love how everybody likes to dissect Gaga's flops and put them under the microscope but when any other pop star flops it's kind of like a non event.

Speaks volumes IMO.
