Why include everyone in a movement / statement that is strictly directed to a specific community? It makes no sense no matter how hard you attempt to spin the concept around. Its just unnecessary and quiet self serving, in my opinion. There is no denying that all lives matter is ultimately the politically correct term, but why not address the issue in a specific manner when systematic oppression is specifically directed towards minority groups? that's one ignorant form of tone policing.

Tbh I agree. Though I think that something like Minority lives matter would be better, because e.g Native Americans are the ones that get oppressed the most and are not large enough to start a movement like Black Americans were able to do it. They could have profit from it if it weren't only Black American.

The goal is egalitarism. The movement may be targeted towards black people but "Black lives matter" separates them from the rest, which is counter-productive towards the "we are all equal" goal.

Wow, this is really really really idiotic. Like some next level **** stupid. This is the kind of "progressive" thinking that causes more separation and is just counter-productive to equal treatment.

You see, 90% of the people who blast "All lives matter" from the rooftops don't actually think all lives matter. If they did, they wouldn't use that phrase do ba--lize the "black lives matter" movement. They'd educate other people on the struggles of East Asian, South Asian, First Nation and Latinx people in the western world.

yes, of course all lives matter, but the issue at hand in the conversation was about how black people are treated, the struggles of a black person are different from a white person's, they far outweigh the white race's struggles, to the point where we as a people are privileged to not have to have institutionalized racism bring us down. saying all lives matter is simply a f*ck you to black people trying to get some f*cking attention, assuming that they're overreacting but simply if most white people would be empathetic we would realize the dicks we're being. the people who actually think all lives matter wouldn't have used that as a comeback to a question at a professional event like this.

that what I personally do, but neither White or Black people do care about that.

Thank you for proving why "All lives matter" is a better name for an egalitarian movement :proud:

Although I do believe this is true with a lot of people, I think this politician that got booed did not mean it in that way. He seemed very sincere in saying that all lives matter, including blacks, whites, etc.

I think blacks have gotten so used to being treated like their issues don't matter that they just jumped in on this guy thinking he was doing the same thing.

Plus, a lot of white Americans are so clueless. Some even think they are being persecuted :rip:

You make no sense, black people are already seperated, ostracized and scrutinzed in society but them saying "our lives matter" singles them out and that's racist? :awkney:

Good for you.

I still think that "All Lives Matter" actually addresses the issue in a much more specific way :sharon: It focuses on equal rights and when you're using it in a context of racism and racist violence everyone still knows it's about black people getting the same rights as everyone else, but the focus remains on the ideal of equality and gets a discussion going about how to spread that message. Plus, it can be used for all kinds of conflicts and, that way, get wider exposure and greater force. When someone writes "Black Lives Matter" everyone thinks of U.S. police violence, not about Nigerian citizens getting massacred by (black) Boko Haram members. Its scope is laughably limited and it doesn't even so much as suggest a solution or direction for solutions. It thrives on a promoted (which is dangerous) divide between white criminals (who often represent the state) and innocent black people and if there aren't enough examples of the risk of falling into dualistic philosophies, it's as simple as this: organizing and systematically selecting events of violence to report and spread according to race is not exactly founded on a racist-less theory either. Yes, I think that an issue like police violence against black people can be discussed under a wider umbrella and I don't see any reason for that being wrong or ineffective.

Hello? Duh!

They are being systemically separated and until systematic oppression is wiped off they will continue representing themselves in that manner, its ironic how your only counter argument is based on the mentality of blaming the victim (for his choice of words in this case) when in reality the victim is only working accordingly to systematic oppression itself, that statement was not created merely out of the blue you know.

So your work against a system of opression by working under it's rules and separating yourself? Good luck with that :proud:
