Come to me
In all your glamour and cruelty
Just do that thing that you do
And I'll undress you

okay, so here she says for the person to come to her in their glamour and cruelty, abuse is cruel and Rob was in the glam scene with Gaga, she talks about it all the time about how she was very glam-pop when with him, now, he's in a Glam-Rock band, sounds glamorous to me... and then he does that that he does, which afterwards makes her undress him, what is that thing that he does? does he hurt her? physically? verbally?

Keep it tight
Sometimes the simplest move is right
The melody that you choose
Can rescue you

keep what tight? i have no idea and don't wish to find out :rip: sometimes the simplest move is right, and the simple move she makes, her melody, can rescue you, from abuse? the melody she chose rescued her from whatever it is that he does, that thing in the last verse, maybe? or she may be talking about this on a more high scale level, like in the next verse. maybe she means she was rescued by her music, she no longer relied on this guy after becoming big, her melody rescued her..

A hybrid can withstand these things
My heart can beat with bricks and strings

a hybrid can withstand these things, that thing that he does that we don't know about. i have no idea what the second line implies but to me she saying her heart still beats even after that thing that he does. you can't have my heart, but do what you want with my body.

Come to me
With all your subtext and fantasy
Just do that thing that you do
In a perverse hue

the man she talks about probably tries to cheer her up after hurting her, but she sees his subtext and she knows s-xual abuse is something of a fantasy to him. she tells him to do that thing that he does, in a perverse hue, why is this hue perverse? because what he's doing is perverted, Gaga is very young and he is 37, it's perverted to her, the hue he sees, what he sees as normal is perverse to her

Lovers' kites
Are flown on beaches for public sight
The color palette you choose
Can profit you

she doesn't see them as lovers because she knows it's wrong, she sees him simply as a primal mate, but she thinks lovers are supposed to fly their kites high and in public sight but she can't keep it public because that thing that he does. the arts Gaga chose, what she utilized to make her art, her music, this man she utilized ended up with her profiting from it, she's trying to keep her head up and be positive

anyway, i hope you now realize there's a reason ARTPOP is in between Do What U Want and Swine. have a nice day...

I'm pretty sure the song is about actual ARTPOP. The glamour and cruelty of the pop industry. The fantasy one imagines the music is like. The hybrid being both art and pop. The bricks and strings being either art and pop or pop and art. The whole song is a series of metaphors to deacribe the concrpt of what ARTPOP is.

yeah, most of it is reaching but all i have are very abstract, weird lyrics to work with, that's why i made this, Gaga is not clear about what she is talking about, like this quotes say

Your ARTPOP can mean anything.  :queenga:

Of course it's about abuse. It's about everything.

ARTPOP could mean ANY-THING-UH

Well, it could it mean anything so.. :emma:

But seriously, I think your theory on Rob and s-xual abuse does not only apply to them but it also does to many aspects i.e. the music industry, music itself, etc. etc.

At least, that's what I think but then again.. it could mean anything. :awesome:

it could be about a number of things, maybe that's why the hook is about ARTPOP being about anything. also, what about lovers kites flying in public sight? what about perverse hues? why would she undress the media or pop industry?

It's amazing how a song can be open to so many interpretations. Only Gaga

the lover's kites flying in public could refrr to the facade that popstars create for the general public and hues are most commonly used in art terminology.

The entite bridge talks about not ssacrificing your artistic integrity for pop's sake. Hence, putting the art in front of the pop.

that too, i didn't go over those lyrics because i just didn't go that far down in the lyrics when writing, it'd take more time to do all that and try to make it make sense with my theory but there's no point because it's a small rumor, and i think Gaga wanted it to have many meanings anyway, we'll never know.
