"N reaction to the Greek bailout deal, a group of political activists on Twitter have been calling for a boycott of German products.
Hashtag Boycott Germany has been trending on Twitter, being mentioned around 30,000 times since it was first tweeted on the weekend of July 11-12. Activists urge consumers to boycott German products, publishing a barcode series number which supposedly reveal that items are originally from Germany. In actual fact, the codes do not correspond to the place of manufacture, only the location of the parent company.
A London School of Economics professor has been tweeting in support of the boycott, arguing that as the Nazi debt was cancelled in 1953 there is a moral duty for the Germans to do the same for Greece.
Spanish activists had expressed their anger with the deal on Twitter earlier in the week by tweeting hashtag This Is A Coup about the bailout, with some now supporting the German boycott."

This is one of the best arguments to combat Europe's decisions, but a failed and ineffective boycott like this won't do any good to make people aware of the reasons for the financial failure of the bailout. It will just make Greece look bad.

Well, in the people's defense: the time for discussion is over. Greece loses. I understand campaigns like this, like the #ThisIsACoup campaign on Twitter, because it doesn't matter how many good arguments there are to reject the bailout plan (I have yet to see one single economist who doesn't call the bailout a baffling plan to push Greece deeper into disaster - even in my country there's a political uproar about it), the decision has been made and there's nothing anyone can do about it now.

But still I hope these campaigns just stay campaigns.

Germany's money is not the only money that will be risk if the debt is forgiven and honestly, don't agree with it. It's not fair for other countries to lose money because of Greece's mistakes. Portugal, Ireland and Spain have been working hard to pay their debt, and Greece should do the same instead of trying to get some sort of bail on these payments.

Maybe my view is wrong But on the news, some Greek people have been interviewed and they all want the same, Europe to forgive their debt. Someone inform me if my views are wrong

Why only German products? Germany isn't the harshest country on Greece. What about Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria?  It seems like Germany is an easy target because of the second worldwar, because they're the biggest country and the only country that has grown continuously during the crisis.

As a south european citizen it looks to me that Germany controls Europe and Merkel does whatever it takes to benefice Germany even if that completely destroys the ideas that founded the European Union.

Merkel tries to take everybody's interests into account. She also has a look at the long term. If Greece's debt is lowered: where will Greece's motivation to get a functional, modern economy with fiscal discipline be? What will the political consequences be for the other European countries? Will it actually help Greece in the long term?

I don't see how this pack of reforms would benefit Germany, though. The biggest benefit for Germany would be for Greece to leave the Eurozone. That's what Schäuble wanted. Merkel insisted on keeping Greece in the Eurozone, but to do that they need to give more money to Greece, and to make that politically doable (it needs to go through different parliaments) Greece needed to give concessions. The 'blackmail' is justified, because there is no other option than the ones given to Greece. Greece should use this as an opportunity to fight corruption, fight tax evasion, fight bureaucracy/red tape and to liberalize the market. These are all things that fit in Syriza's manifesto. Raising taxes aren't, but sometimes it's simply a necessity. And to allow for more foreign investment and to pay the bills, privatisations will benefit the economy (eventhough it's completely against the principes of Syriza...).
