"She created the world we live in," Diplo says about Madonna

The tour isn't sold out. They are dropping prices at some of the arenas.

Ghosttown wasn't number one song material, and she released it as a second single, after a failed first single. Sorry Diplo, that's not a combination that works out well.

That's dismissing Grace Jones and Kate Bush, they started it earlier. But yes she plays a BIG role on that.

I'm assuming that he was referring to the European dates, which indeed sold out in a matter of minutes. Regardless, this tour is the most expensive one in recent memory so its only natural to have a considerably slow sales. Each show will be sold out by the time its due, thats given.

If an artist like Katy Perry released Ghosttown it would have cracked the top 10 with ease, that was his main point.

The European dates still haven't sold out. They did add a few second dates, but those big spaces they left for extra dates aren't going to be needed either. Probably, especially since they are dropping ticket prices, which they needed to do.

He said it would have been a number one. Unconditional didn't reach the top 10, did it? Any of Katy's first singles are going to reach the top 10, but Madonna isn't in Katy's position anymore. She doesn't have a massive amount of fans in the age range that pop radio is looking for. The 15 to 30 crowd wasn't interested in her music on PopRadio and the single didn't make a convincing case for itself on iTunes, so it failed.

It's annoying that so many Gaga fans pay her dust. I mean if you like Gaga, I can promise you that there will be at least one Madonna album you will love.

We also got to remember that if we had no Madonna, we 100% would have no Gaga, so pay the lady her respect, we owe her a lot!

We would of gotten Gaga, just a slightly different version.

People give madonna too much credit for Gaga. Gaga is her own person, sure Madonna influenced her outfits a bit but that's about it. Gaga's had so much success without Madonna influences.

Also Ghosttown was a bad song, it wouldn't of been a success on anybody lmao :sis:

No, what he said is her tour sold out in minutes, which is incorrect.

And then he said that GT would have been number one...not a moderate hit. I disagree with that statement that he made.

I really don't believe that if Katy had released Ghosttown it would have been a hit. She had trouble with Unconditionally  and it was a similar ballad. I really think he is just trying to save face. Blaming this on people not wanting Madonna to succeed when the music is not great anymore is silly and if what he's saying is true then he is basically blaming Madonna for her lack of ability to connect with the new pop generation. Which I don't think is the case. I think he gave her garbage music and thought that because she is Madonna it would sell. His song Lean On is ten times better than Bitch I'm Madonna and Ghosttown. Why didn't he give that to her? Because it was easier to give her crap and then complain about it for publicity for his new projects. Basically he is using Madonna like everyone else.

He also said that she created the universe, do you believe thats what he actually meant? listen, he's exaggerating to emphasize on the point he's making. This politically correct discussion is completely and utterly uncalled for, trying to hijack his sayings by focusing on details that were obviously enlarged and exaggerated for the sake of making a point is the weakest form of argument, nitpicking is so lame.

And her European dates did sell out in minutes, I do not track her ticket sales because I'm simply not interested in doing that, but I believe @Houdini has the receipts.

I can see both sides of this regardless of whoever is this Diplo person (what in the hell is that kind of name?), I hold Madonna in high respect and regard due to her past work and achievements and how she used to mesmerize me when I was younger like Gaga did when she first came to the scene.

However, Madonna raised the bar for all pop music, but never went above her latest standard of music since Ray of Light and Confessions of the Dancefloor.  Even American Life was interesting, but her last two albums hardly impressed me because her music wasn't up to par of the quality she was usually known for, in my opinion.

Also, people are free to like what they like and the opposite. The audience are customers and they hold the power of purchase, end of story. We already owe the government taxes and pay bills, and that's more than enough BS to deal with.

Do your own research.

Nope, she influenced Gaga musically, artistically, and she most definitely took some notes from Madonna when it comes to being a performer. The Monster Ball was literally a modern day Blond Ambition Tour.

Gaga took Madonna and did it even better and bigger.

Madonna isn't as innovative as you think, she too was influenced by those before her.
