Germany urges paedophiles out of the shadows

This is a great move, especially for those that don't wanna hurt kids but can't help themselves but being attracted to them.

This is really weird. :saladga:

this article is literally about preventing child abuse by urging peadophiles that know they pose a threat to make themselves visible & to end the stigma. A peadophile is not a child abuser. I've read a few articles about this and during the last years almost all support centers for paedophiles in Europe vanished, which means we refuse these people the help they're asking for even though we should welcome & help them, it really is not that weird

This is good. I didn't know people were already open-minded enough to debate this.

But I don't know if it's good that a child abuser doesn't have to be reported... it prevents further abuse, but at the same time deserves punishment. But the punishment is supposed to be preventive, too :saladga:

Germans are open-minded. Just our politician sucking :awesome:

Yeah I don't agree with that too, but it's in our laws that they need to be silent about it

This is great news in my opinion. I'm interested to see what this treatment is all about... Since i can't imagine getting rid of such strong thoughts is going to be easy.

I honestly hope that this could help reduce child abuse cases, or for that matter, suicides.

It's a good idea, to teach these individuals tools to control their problem. There's not a "cure", so all you can do is teach these individuals ways to never act on their thoughts.

I wonder what the percentage of males vs females with this problem and in treatment is?

Also, I wonder if a psychiatrist has a duty to alert authorities if the patient is an imminent danger to a child...if they have a particular target and a plan? When does the doctor/patient confidentiality rule get pushed aside for the safety of a child?

A step in the right direction, seeking help should never be taboo, regardless for what it's for.

This is absolute bull****.

This.

When you say something so drastic, please say at least why?

What do you want? Ignoring the pedophilia away? Lemme tell you a secret. That won't happen.

It is unbelievable that in this time an age there are people that are so closeminded that are willing to judge people based on things that have no scientific explanation or are pretty much not in one's hands. Honestly, I do not support child abuse, p0rnography or anything. However, I do commend anyone who is willing to accept their situation and decide not to act on it because it is simply wrong. It must be awful to be unexplainably attracted to a minor and I'm pretty sure anyone would take any help given in order to control or know how to suppress such feelings.

Has anyone watched Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac vol. II? It's pretty gruesome but there's a paedophile reference halfway through the movie that actually plays with this concept of knowing one's feelings but not acting on them.

Pink flamingos always fascinated me.

:applause: You can't just act like pedophila doesn't exists nor you can demonizing them as human beings. They need help and Germany did the right thing.

Germany did not do the right thing. Ah, same old story. You think it's good that child rapists escape justice?

" In Germany, though, a campaign is under way to persuade them to sign up for confidential treatment, even if they have abused a child"

So rapists just sign up for this confidential crap and they hush up their crimes? If someone tells a doctor they raped a child, that doctor should go straight to the police, have them thrown them in jail and toss away the key (only because Germany doesn't have execution).

"I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J. Trump
