Who says Mexico will pay it? This would only **** up relations between the two countries. Before you know it Mexico fines the US for every litre of water used in Los Angeles, Nevada, etc. Mexico wouldn't pay it, and it would actually cost jobs because trade would become less.

And destroying IS in one day... will not help. There's so many terrorist groups there. It would probably become a Libya-like situation there.

Purely from an economic perspective, it would be disastrous. Sanctions, high military spending, less trade, lower gdp per capita (because Mexico is poor), etc. And for the Republicans it would also be bad, because the Mexicans would mostly vote for Democrats.

A better thing is to grant Texas and other conservative states independence. That way the rest of the US can become richer, because the traditional conservative economics will have less support.
