Spotify Just Had Its Best Week Ever on Apple Music's Home Turf

In the week since Apple Music launched, Spotify has spent five consecutive days in the top 10 most downloaded apps list.

It’s been a week since Apple Music launched, and one of the beneficiaries so far seems to be Spotify. The company with the most to lose just had its best week ever in the U.S. Apple store, measured by how it ranked among the most-downloaded apps. Spotify spent five consecutive days as the ninth-most-popular iPhone app in the U.S., a spot it hadn't reached for even a single day since December 2013. (Spotify has since fallen to No. 10, which still puts it ahead of its performance for almost every day in its history.)

I prefer Spotify because it has the free version which is quite enough for me. I only pay for the mobile version when I'm on vacation or travelling a lot.

Spotify is free ; if they want to be bigger than spotify they have to be free too.

Seriously no one is willing to pay for something you can get free anywhere .

And Apple Music free trial needs a credit card to work , and not so many teenagers which should be the target demographic, have access to credit cards.

I guess they preferred to have Taylor Swift in it than offering free plans :emma:

Is it just me who finds Apple Music really buggy on the iPhone?

Tracks won't always play and the app won't always load properly and it's really messy for Apple :saladga:

I love how Spotify rises above all the other apps despite all kinds of people coming for it and providing their own alternatives...

:awkney: Ok, wait, but Apple Music is actually way better in my opinion lol.

Free Spotify is extremely limited, so I don't even take it into account. It's much easier to stumble across new music, they have way better playlists, and it's only gonna get better from here considering Apple has the resources to invest in making it better. Keep in mind the entirety of Apple Music was conceived and launched in MONTHS.

But, anyway, good for Spotify. It was good to me while I used it, but there's no going back for me.
