Increased taxes to pay for what?   More goverment ?  more social benefits?   Leave the money in the private sector, competition spawns innovation to improve... Higher taxes reduces the incentive to excel since there is no benefit to offering a better product or service since any extra income is taxed to death.

It doesn't matter if somebody earns 750000 or 400000... people will automatically strive for the highest income they can get.

100% equality doens't work, but there should be enough equality so that nobody lives in (relative) poverty in a country.

The money can be used to lower taxes on low income, to higher welfare, to increase the amount of teachers, etc.

i think a progressive tax rate can be beneficial to a point... You wont stop trying to get more income because your taxes are no longer 20% but have risen to 40% or whatever

However according to posts youve made before, you support tax rates as high as 80% on top income brackets... Thats total madness...

Most people would not bother to work hard and take risks on a business or whatever if they are only gonna keep 20% of what they make over a certain amount...

in your world, id get confortable on minimum wage low stress no education required jobs seeing as id get to live soso no matter what

before you say ppl dont abuse the system when you offer too much assistance look at the issue in Norway... thanks to oil and only 5 million people to share the wealth with, they have been able to afford a very good welfare and social support system...

yet they are totally plagued by it. Almost 20% of working age adults are either on welfare or on disability!!!!!! you wanna tell me 1 in 5 people there seriously need that in a Country like that? please lets get real :saladga:

That's why I support a basic income. That way the people who abuse the welfare system will no longer exist, and tax evasion and fraud will be way less common because of way less tax exemptions, no more deductables and no other kind of welfare.

And I think that the people who think 'I'm going to make it!' don't really think about earning 1 million a year, but more about 300k a year. Nobody needs more than a million a year and the people who are earning that much most often actually didn't contribute to any kind of innovation.

What about entertainers?  I know a few who out pace that number several times over... Should their income beyond the 1million mark automatically go to the ....government?

if by basic income you mean a higher minimum wage, ive always been in favour of a decent minimum wage... that you dont have to convince me of...

but rediculous tax rates i cannot agree with

Many businesses would never allow themseves to expand past a certain point because the owner would be taxed like mad so most new businesses created would always stay small...

while some small businesses is good, you also need a few to expand to be large because some things are just more efficient with large businesses... you cant just have a corner store for everything after all...

What 80% tax rates is saying is dont bother to try and expand earnings once you hit the top income bracket because its gonna be almost purely just taxes

Even in a purely domestic economy (that had no competition from globalization) id never tax Corporations more than 40% and top income tax brackets more than 60%...

in the globalization we live in, id never tax Corporations over 25% tops and would never tax top income bracket more than 50% (and thats already stretching it)

A high high income brack will not slow down innovation. The most socialdemocratic countries have the most innovation and r&d as part of their economy.

I think taxing businesses too much isn't necessary but a rate of 25-30% is doable.

With a basic income I mean that everybody in the whole country receives welfare (of about 1000$ in the month - should be just enough to live from). Costs a **** ton of money, but it will allow for less bureaucracy, a smaller government, labour rights can be destroyed, more cultural development, entrepeneurship and startups, a more intelligent and social society, happier and stressless people. The only downsides are how much it costs (taxes will have to increase) and immigration will surge.

Gov. waste and corruption are the main reason there is always a push for higher taxes.   if they spent it like they say they would, taxes would go down and the private sector would prosper.   the European countries are much different economy wise and you can't apply their socialistic approach to the U.S. economic  system effectively.
