New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced Tuesday that he is seeking the Republican nomination for president in 2016.

“America is tired of hand-wringing and indecisiveness and weakness in the Oval Office. We need to have strength and decision-making and authority back in the Oval Office,” Christie said at a rally at his old high school in Livingston, New Jersey.

“And that is why today, I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Republican nomination for president of the United States of America.”

Oh god...does it matter though? I'm, like, 90% sure we won't have a conservative president again until they start wising up that the rest of the country is tired of "religious freedom" this and "gays and immigrants" that.

He has a good chance of becoming president, but I think his past will catch up with him before he has a chance to really campaign.

As a native New Jerseyan, I can say he already abandoned us. For the past year at least he has been attempting to clean up his image on the national scale, while not taking care of things here.

He's stealing pensions of hard working people (ESPECIALLY teachers), refusing to fund the necessary items to pay them what they put in teaching/protecting the state claiming there's no money. It's a slap in the face to public education to announce his run for presidency in a school that he fought the teachers in.

Major businesses are fleeing the state because taxes are too high, one being Mercedes-Benz. Once the businesses go, so do jobs and state revenue. Also because of high taxes, people have no choice but to move out of state, and with the unemployment rate one of the highest in the nation, who could blame them. Don't get me started on Atlantic City.

NJ is a massive transit hub, that houses one of the largest transportation systems in the nation. It's congested enough, so a few years back lawmakers suggested the ARC tunnel project to alleviate the Hudson tunnel congestion and invest in the  infrastructure. He killed the project, citing it was too expensive and we would end up paying for it. With rising costs of NJ transit, we are already paying for broken trains and **** service with no end in sight bc of his refusal of relieving the problem.

bridgegate, although he claims he has no knowledge, shut down one of the busiest bridges because the mayor of fort lee refused to support him. His close officials sent emails to shut down the bridge, leaving commuters scrambling to get to work not to mention tying up traffic all over northern NJ. And he didn't seem to care.

hurricane Sandy. People are still homeless. It's been 3 years. The funding promised is trickling in, but at a very slow pace. Sure we're seeing houses go up but we are seeing more in shambles. Not to mention the first lady's charity to just help NJ victims is the center of more controversy. He said he would do as much as he can to help, that's a lie.

not to mention, he's been nasty to constituents on many occasion and has been rude to many. Personally, I've seen enough to believe that he's not getting my vote. There's just nothing positive I can see.

good luck to him tho, it's a tough field
