Do What U Want is highly under-rated

I think the beat is good but it sounds like the whole song was written by a 7 year old, except for r kellys part. I don't like it

Gaga Medicine

I don't like R Kelly's part. I prefer the version with Christina Aguilera. Actually, I would love if this song were sang only by Gaga, it is too good. Seriously, I don't like any Gaga collaborations (with other singers, not producers). Just Dance, Telephone, DWUW would be just fine without Colby O' Donnis, Beyonce and R Kelly/Christina Aguilera. I hope the next album is only Gaga.

Gaga Medicine

best song on the album

It would be the best for me too if it wasn't R Kelly's part.

The production is the best DJWS has ever done with Gaga.

DWUW was already at top 15 hit with no vid , with a vid it would have pushed for top 10 keep in mind the video seemed like the perfect controversy event. So I don't think there was room for it to underperform more/ or perform less better if a video was given.

Ok. Thanks for clarifying. :)  But I still wondered had it had a proper video (promoted) and under performed, would it still get the almost unanimous praise it's getting here. Some people seem kind of fickle.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

I think it's a tad bit overrated. DO NOT get me wrong, I love this song to bits but out of the whole ARTPOP album,  this seems to be everyone's favourite. Personally however,  I just wish the chorus hit a little bit harder with a tad more bass.  That's really my only complaint.

Most people really seem to enjoy the song. I've heard it (along with Gypsy) in malls and on the radio (not like Gypsy). I think most people assume it was the smash single that got away because of the no MV deal. Of course, a lot of people here seemed to think the same of G.U.Y. until it flopped as a single, so I'm curious if the same sentiment would have stood if D.W.U.W had had a released video, and still underperformed. Personally I think Do What You Want is a much better song than G.U.Y. (though I like G.U.Y.), but the R. Kelly factor really skeeves me out.

I really do agree and I often hear it played on radio. I think that Gaga messed up by using R. Kelly and having that idea for a video and never delivering. I feel like she could have used Drake for it and made an appropriate video and it would have been a fast hit. I still like it enough to play it, but I regret Gaga using R. Kelly.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Drake would have been an excellent choice! Lots of people find him very s-xy so that definitely would make a great impact for promotion.

It's a very powerful song. Some parts of it I'm iffy about (don't stop / let's party c'mon Gaga), but I've gotten over it. Lyrically it's pretty in your face about what she wants to get across, and melodically it's actually very beautiful, especially the bridge.

I just... I'm still so mad about the inclusion of R Kelly. It sounds good, and worked amazing with the crowd in terms of call and response, but it's just (imo) incredibly inferior to the solo version's lyrics. Like, it completely throws off the song's themes.

The solo version is incredible, and if it were released, I would say would have been one of her best singles.

3 points in and ready for more

Listen to the Christina version, the whole thing is slightly "harder".

Where do all you guys come from who take popular song XY and then open a thread telling us it's underrated, even though it is not?

But people are stupid enough to interpret it correctly, and they assume it's about rape. :smh:

IKR. :smh: It's like the exact opposite of the public reaction to Blurred Lines. Despite what it was about, everyone thought it was a bop.

I really wish Gaga had prioritized the Xtina version, or just made that the only non-solo version. It would have performed so much better and the video probably would have been able to be released if it had the same concept minus R. Kelly. She could have at least pushed the Xtina version to radio.
