lego 44,165
Contact has been lost with the Swedish boat Marianne, which had been leading the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla, after other boats turned back. The IDF announced that they intercepted and searched the vessel which had tried to "breach the maritime blockade." The Freedom Flotilla Coalition lost contact with the flagship of the flotilla at 10:57pm GMT, the organization said. The vessel was some 100 nautical miles from its destination when it happened. The Israeli navy has engaged the vessel, boarded and searched it, the Israeli Defense Forces' spokesman Peter Lerner confirmed. He said the Marianne is now being escorted to Ashdod Port after ignoring "repeated appeals to change course." Earlier, the Coalition confirmed that three vessels which are part of the flotilla turned back to their ports of origin, as was part of the original plan. “The three sailing boats accompanying and supporting the “Marianne” (“Rachel”, “Vittorio” and “Juliano II”) are changing their course and will be heading back to their ports of origin,” it announced. The Israeli government ordered the navy to “redirect” the vessel only after “exhausting all diplomatic channels,” according to the IDF. After the Marianne crew refused to change the course, the naval forces “visited and searched the vessel” and “reported that use of force was unnecessary, and that the process was uneventful.” “The vessel is currently being escorted to Ashdod Port and is expected to arrive within 12-24 hours,” the statement adds. However, the organizers of the flotilla have reasons to believe that the engagement was not as uneventful and non-violent as the navy claims, and that some people on board “might be hurt.” “We could not contact the boat or anyone on the boat in the last couple of hours before capture,” a representative of the Freedom Flotilla III media team told RT by phone. “We have no reason yet to believe that the capture was [as] uneventful as the IDF claimed, because the last time they said [that] in 2012, people were tasered and beaten with clubs.” The coalition expected Tel-Aviv to make every effort to stop the third Freedom Flotilla, but still hoped that “at some point a more reasonable voice will prevail in the Israeli government.” ... http://rt.com/news/270310-gaza-flotilla-israel-blockade/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=RSS http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/.premium-1.663423 FreePalestine
lego 44,165
Israel once again commits an act of state piracy in the Mediterranean At 02:06AM today (Gaza time) the “Marianne” contacted Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) and informed us that three boats of the Israeli navy had surrounded her in international waters, while sailing approximately 100NM from Gaza coast. After that we lost contact with the “Marianne” and at 05:11AM (Gaza time) the IDF announced that they had “visited and searched” Marianne. They had captured the boat and detained all on board “in international waters” as they admitted themselves. The only positive content in the IDF announcement was that they still recognize that there is a naval blockade of Gaza, despite Netanyahu’s government recent denial that one exists. We have no reason to believe that Marianne’s capture was “uneventful”, because the last time the IDF said something like that, in 2012, the people on board the “Estelle” were badly tasered and beaten with clubs. Back in 2010, ten passengers of Mavi Marmara were murdered by the IDF during a similar operation in international waters. It is disappointing that the Israeli government chose to continue the absolutely fruitless policy of “no tolerance”, meaning it will continue to enforce an inhumane and illegal collective punishment against 1.8 million Palestinians in Gaza. Israel's repeated acts of state piracy in international waters are worrying signs that the occupation and blockade policy extends to the entire eastern Mediterranean. We demand that the Israeli government cease and desist the illegal detainment of peaceful civilians travelling in international waters in support of humanitarian aid. We call on our governments to ensure that all passengers and crew from the “Marianne” are safe, and to strongly protest against the violation of international maritime law by the Israeli state. We call on all civil society organizations to condemn the actions of Israel. People all over the world will continue to respond and react to this injustice, as will we, until the port of Gaza is open and the siege and occupation is ended. https://freedomflotilla.org/news/25-israel-once-again-commits-an-act-of-state-piracy-in-the-mediterranean FreePalestine

Dolev 867
Unnecessary provocation. There's no siege on Gaza. 800 trucks passes Israel-Gaza border each day. More than 1.6 tons of goods. I find it extremely-hypocrite that the world is obsessively picking Israel for defending itself while literally ignoring the mass-slaughtering of Syrian people that happens for already more then 4 years now. No one cares for Syria,Nigeria or North Korea which is sad Don't try to make it seem as people are hating on Israel because most/all of its population are Jews, a lot of countries in the Middle East has a rate of Jewish citizens & it considers as an official part of a country religion, and we've been living together for so long without any problems. The only problem is Israel itself, they invaded a country, killed their people, took their homes and goods made them refugees in their own country and abuse their asses till this day, that's the real definition of terrorism. Literally.

Melech 9,900
was this before or after the Palestine invasion? If before I wanna see the receipts look up fahrud. And things happened after Israel creation. But what do have the Jews to do with it in Arab countries? Nothing. Those Arab countries only searched something to slaughter Jews. No one from international community can supervise anything when Israel is keeping them under the blockade which they claim it doesn't exist! Yes, so good that they doesn't even have ambassadors in each other countries as of right now. There's no blockade. There's enough food & humanitarian equipment in Gaza. Israel won't allow a terror organization killing its citizens to gain power & move weapons by having its own sea or air port. Don't try to make it seem as people are hating on Israel because most/all of its population are Jews, a lot of countries in the Middle East has a rate of Jewish citizens & it considers as an official part of a country religion, and we've been living together for so long without any problems. The only problem is Israel itself, they invaded a country, killed their people, took their homes and goods made them refugees in their own country and abuse their asses till this day, that's the real definition of terrorism. Literally. The ignorance Turkey is the only country in the region with an alive Jewish community outside of Israel as of today (talking about 20,000 from a population estimated to be around about 80,000,000 people!!!). There was no country to invade, the area of Israel was under a British mandate. The Arabs attacked the Jews first and lost the war. Educate yourself.
