Anyone else find Rockshow to be somewhat of a disturbing song?

I'm sure some of you have pointed this out already but ever since I've been listening to Rock show all of these years I always found the song to be somewhat disturbing. It's a great song but the lyrics always made me wonder what she was going through when she wrote this song. Gaga admitted on Howard Stern last year that she was s-xually harassed by someone from 2006 or 2007. Rockshow was written in 2006. These lyrics for example make me wonder

It could have been love
It could have been anybody

then it gets more bone chilling

"I'm scared", she whispered as she runs to hide
Into a back room where she paints on a smile
She hears a sound, she hears a sound"

"Touch me", he whispered as he walks to the light
From the window, there's visions of a house in the night
He hears a sound, he hears a sound

Then these lyrics are perhaps what took the cake for me

Hold her, tell her that you need her
Please undress her slowly, uh-oh
Never hold the girl too tightly
She can't breathe when you speak
Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh!

In those lyrics it almost seems like shes being strangled, struggling to breath and she's clearly naked. I never understand what the song was about throughout these 7 years but now it sort of makes sense with what she said about getting s-xually abused because in the song she also states lyrically about if shes supposed to do this or not (which she later mentions 6 years later during swine festival). In the song you also kinda notice she sounds somewhat scared and disturbed when she sings. Rockshow is sort of like the real raw version of "Swine". Rockshow might even be one of her most personal songs ever.

I'm bored and just felt like a--lyzing :neyde:

i love Rockshow and it is indeed kind of creepy, something behind those lyrics and the instrumental lies some dark most probably negative happening.

Yeah I remember in 2009, me and other gaga fans were discussing the song and we all loved it but we all agreed that something happened to her when she wrote that song but we didn't know anything about her being s-xually abused at that time. Some people may say I'm reaching but this song was written during the same year the incident happened to her.

I always had this image of someone visiting a concert, rock show or whatever,,,just something that is temporarily in town, and the person falls in love with one of the musicians and get's invited backstage and somehow disappears

Me too but some of the other lyrics sort of painted a more darker image in my head like the part where she gets undressed slowly and he holds her tightly and she cant breathe. It's indeed a s-xy song if its actually about rough s-x but then when I wonder if its masked kind of like how Swine is masked to be a fun pop song (even though I hate it)

I think it's about her rape like you said. But idk I thought Rob Fusari raped her, but didn't he produce this song?

Idk because to be fair she may have hinted its him but at the end of the day she never name dropped so hints dont really go anywhere if the cat doesn't escape from the bag  I just assume its a producer from def jam. Perhaps we'll never know and I'm sure this will end up being like the loch ness monster...we'll never know.

I don't think he would produce a song about him raping Gaga :flop:

"She waited for love but there wasn't anybody around so she left town with the Rockshow"

This is indeed a very disturbing song. For this quote in particular I think she is saying that she was so desperate for fame and success (love) that she was willing to do anything. Rockshow referrs to maybe a rock influenced producer or also how she became like a rockstar. (Rockstars are known for having a lot of s-x.) She was coerced into doing things, thinking she had to do it, not realizing at the time the emotional impact it would have on her until later.

I agree with everything you said and it also ties into what she said at the itunes festival when talking about her past "Is this what adults are supposed to do?" and she took off her wig to show her real hair because at the time in 2006 (around the time rockshow was written) she had brown hair when she was s-xually abused.

Yes definitely. We dont know what type of rape it was, but based on what she said, i think it was coerced rape. This type can be extremely confusing for victims.

It makes me sad that she seems to have a lot of shame about what happened. She was the one being taken advantage of but since she technically allowed it to happen, she didnt realize she was raped.
