It's great and one of my fave pop girl albums but Blackout and In The Zone are superior in my opinion.

Considering in your review you gave COADF 9.25/10 (I went and looked to make sure my memory was right) it's safe to say she either does impress you or you have a flawed sense of what a 9/10 album is

I too consider Ray of Light a great pop record, specifically for Madonna. But your and Jjangs general postings about Madonna on this forum is what irritates me about Madonna stans and the way Madonna is perceived in popular culture. She is not the be all end all of popular music. Period. She has some good albums and some clunkers. If someone doesn't like Ray of Light its not a matter of taste or lack of objectivity. Just because Madonna is heralded as a pop matriarch doesn't mean nearly every album shes released is truly and inarguably superior to the majority. That is true delusion and as obnoxious as monsters can sometimes be I find Madonna stans far more delusional for their additional pompous arrogance.

 

I don't personally believe so but if someone finds Born This Way to be the best pop album of all time thats their opinion. Its literally no different than someone trying to argue Ray of Light is hands down one of the best pop albums of all time. Its all silly pop stan boasting no matter which way you look at it.

The Fame (Monster) and Born To Die are much better if we're strictly looking at current generation female pop stars.

If we're talking all time, there are a ton of albums by artists like Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Madonna, etc. that are much better

You are free to dislike her music, but no one can deny the fact that she had provided us with many quality albums.

That's basically all I'm saying. I'm not forcing my opinion down anybody's throat ; this is what I think, whether you agree or not is up to you. 

From a critical standard, Ray of Light is considered to be one of the greatest pop albums of all time. The same cannot be said about any Gaga album. I only use that argument to validate my opinion, which is a very natural thing to do in discussions, that by no means means that I think my opinions are superior to anybody's.

Nobody's trying to say that ROL is inarguably better than any other album, my lengthy post in this thread roots from what I see as a disingenuous opinion - giving in a review on this very forum COADF 9.25/10 yet saying you aren't impressed by her albums. 

There's no point addressing anything in your post directly because you didn't say anything new or anything that wasn't obvious

First of all, my response in regards to this thread specifically was aimed at user 'hmmm' I used you as an example for previous postings since you are one of the few notorious sometimes crazed Madonna stans on this forum. Your names inclusion in my post had nothing to do with what youve said in this thread because I didn't even read what you posted here.

And as for what I bolded, both The Fame and The Fame Monster could be considered among the low end of a list of the greatest pop albums of all time. So in fact you are wrong when judging by critical evaluations.

But at the end of the day one of the indirect points I was trying to make is that a lot of opinions about Madonna and a majority of albums listed as "the greatest pop albums of all time" are nothing more than sensationalism and people with opinions like you and I trying to force theirs on everyone else. I don't genuinely see critical evaluations as important personally, but unfortunately in terms of pop star stats they hold some value. But it doesn't really mean anything. So someone saying Ray of Light is one of the best pop albums of all time just because of reviews doesn't mean any more than someone thinking Born This Way is one of the best pop albums of all time. Its all just personal opinion and sensationalism.
