But suffice to say, Earth throughout history has fluctuated considerably in temperates having shifts of as much as 4 degrees between 1450 and 1850 (1 degree per century). Theres also smaller cycles within larger cycles Though its still under a lot of study, these fluctuations are believed to be as a result of different factors including Ocean patterns, Solar activity patterns, or even orbital patterns around the sun itself Two factors atm seem to be commencing phase pushing towards cooling including a peak in solar activity as well as a cooling trend in the Atlantic Ocean. Estimates vary but temperatures could fall 0.5C over next few decades or simply remain flat as CO2 pollution counteracts the cooling. The same scientists also warn that such potential cooling effects from natural cycles are temporary and that if we assume the global warming problem is solved and continue throwing CO2 in the air at ever increasing rates once warming cycle resumes, in 30-50 years the warming could come back at a very rapid catastrophic pace Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks for posting :) I still don't understand why people don't try to make the most energy efficient products and try to reduce pollution anyways. Global warming/cooling or not. It's saying that increased solar activity is causing it, then it says that scientists believe that it's also increased solar activity. Obviously, these statistics and observations are biased to both sides, and there is no real data. We should work on making the world a healthier place for future generations anyways well yes... pollution harms the environment in all kinds of ways not just temperature so no warming alone does not mean it isnt causing problems and as the scientists pointed out, even if they are correct about this, it would be a temporary thing at some point the natural cooling cycle would end and re-warm... if it goes back to rewarming and were throwing even more CO2 than ever in atmosphere, then the warming could be a double whammy and heat up way too fast without regions having enough time to adapt Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Some governments (Sweden for example) are very focussed on 'green initiatives' it can over the long term so far green energy tends to be more expensive than fossil fuels and thats 1 reason there is so much resistance from some people. Coal and Natural Gas is way cheaper than solar or wind etc So so far the industry to compete has relied on subsities and credits making the green industry an economic burden at this time However the technology is at its infatile phase still if you think about it. Its only really emerged strongly in the last 20 years. IT has plenty of room for improvement... So costs should keep dropping and its efficiency should keep rising. So in 20-30 when it becomes more economic than fossil fuels (maybe sooner) the Nations that spent the money now and gotten the industries will have won Investments require innitial economic sacrafice and thats what green energy still is... bvut over the long term it should pay off not only because it will get cheaper over long term but also because fossil fuels should get mroe expensive over long term Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
