Greece crisis: EU emergency summit today

An emergency summit of leaders from eurozone nations will be held on Monday, after the latest attempt to resolve the Greek debt crisis failed.
A meeting of finance ministers on Thursday made no breakthrough.
Head of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, said that "too little" progress had been made and that "no agreement as yet is in sight".
Greece has less than two weeks to strike a deal with its creditors or face defaulting on an existing loan.
Mr Dijsselbloem stressed that "very little time remains" for Greece.

Greece - deal or no deal?

Option 1: No deal: Greece defaults on IMF and ECB repayments; ECB pulls plug on emergency bank assistance leading to run on Greek banks, capital controls and potential Grexit
Option 2: Greece agrees reform deal with creditors at last minute and avoids default, staying in euro
Option 3: No deal reached but both sides paper over cracks and Greece stays in euro for now

I honestly don't know what would be the best for the Eurozone as a whole... without Greece, you have one less corrupt, instable country with misinformed voters (biggest threat to a democracy), but with Greece you'll get the money lended back and it's also better with Russia around the corner.

Their debt doesn't need restructuring, in my opinion. But it's maybe good that Syriza won for once, eventhough they won on a totally unrealistic manifesto.

My idea:

Every 1% in primary surplus Greece gets 1.5% debt to gdp less. This will make Syriza more likely to push reforms and get a (big) primary deficit, and it's also politically reachable in the EU.

I don't see full or half debt reduction as possible, because it's politically not so good. Spain will get Podemos to lead, Italy the 'five star movement' and in the rest of Europe all these eurosceptic, xenophobic countries will win a lot of extra votes.

Greece keeps stressing on their democracy (we promised this, so we don't need to follow international obligations) but they forgot that the rest of Europe also has a democracy. If debt reduction happens, a referendum in every country should be held if their country's debt should be paid back.

A united eurozone would be the best solution- *getsreadyforthestones*

Maybe.. but not yet. The economies are too different right now. Every country should have the same debt and a similar economy for that. And I don't think it's politically reachable.

Maybe in a few decades...

Better Day

I think the eurozone should just disband. It's been a mess for many years and it won't be solved any time soon
