It was fun, but ultimately a mediocre movie.

I'm seriously hoping that these numbers don't encourage more of its formula (badass white male lead, "character development" prissy female lead, extra emphasis and brutalization of a woman's death, etc).

That said, it was really fun, and it's always chill to see BD Wong's character. Also, Claire as a character was much more than I expected (despite her "unclothed and developed" treatment), and her role in the ending was insane.

You know that's the only one woman dying in a Jurassic Park movie so I guess they wanted it to be iconic and memorable, and they did it very good. It would have been a man at the place, I would have liked this death as well !

you know I liked the fact that Jurassic Park never had a woman die on screen (I'm sure off screen there were some like the TRex attack in San Diego in Lost World) her death was more brutal and painful than iconic like other deaths seen... Then again death is terrible regardless and I guess it wouldn't be right to say one gender/race/etc deserves it more (or less) than another. I just didn't like that scene, I truly empathized for her... Especially since her character never did anything bad to deserve punishment like other characters in the movie

Actually her death can be compared to Eddie Carr's death in The Lost World. Shocking death (being cut in two by the 2 T-Rexes) for a nice character.

Ehh, I see where you're coming from, but I'm more with GHGUY in that it seemed more brutal pain wanking than trying to make it iconic. I mean, it was interesting for sure, but I feel like if it was intended to be iconic, it got lost in being memorable solely for how awful it was to her.

As GHGUY said, it seemed almost 90's era cliche sci-fi to narratively punish a female character for doing nothing at all. Even the original JP overlooked that, but idk.

@monketsharona+GHGUY Yeah, I would have thought the death brutal regardless of race or gender, but I feel like, considering the context of how overtly masculine the film was trying to be, it was just pretty eh to see the first female to die onscreen for a JP movie to be as bad as that.

his character is actually quite evil now that I think about it.... He knew about the events of the first park and about the s-x change the dinosaurs were going through to do unauthorized breeding and yet he still continued to put dna of animals to the indominus Rex that would give them undesirable killer traits. Not to mention he knew of the deaths that occurred in the first park and still continued creating dinosaurs

That sounds heartless but yah, he is more heartless than a T-Rex.

 

 

I was actually cheered when that guy working for InGen got his hand bitten before got devoured.

Damn, InGen always be the trouble in Jurassic verse.

Anyone seen the official website? Before the movie was released they had 'park cameras' that would show people just walking around the park, but since the movie was released it shows everyone running
