lego 44,165
Not many members here will agree with me, but I'd loooove it if mainstream culture shifted away from pop for a while. We've had plenty of princesses over the past few years, it's time to get some good bands and rockstars like Gaga back in the spotlight . Arguably Coldplay has been one of the last "big" bands to rise to the absolute top, and they had their debut like a decade and a half ago . I remember when bands like No Doubt, Linking Park, Evanescence, RHCP, GNR etc were all over MTV, that was the most popular music, but it was rock. I want that time back. Dangerous Man 9,245
- Rock has had very big mainstream relevance in the past, and that could return in the years to come. The pop domination has to come at an end some day. - Even if it reduces Gaga's mainstream relevance, who really cares when the music is good? - A rock pop hybrid can withstand these things Don't be so sure hunty. moonboywow 3,136
What people fail to realize is that pop isn't a genre. It's more of a preference. It's a vague Genre at best. Gaga's genre isn't pop. It's dance music.
Head Empty 25,071
You don't even know what pop is lmao, you should have choosed other words. Like EDM domination has to come at an end some day and then Rock will be pop(ular). Pop music is what is popular at the moment. Hence pop is taken from the word popular. That's only the origin of pop though. At this point in time "pop" encompasses more than just any style thats "popular". If jazz music or metal music would become mainstream at this point, we definitely wouldn't call it "pop". Artists like Britney, Katy and even Taylor nowadays share a signature "pop" core to their music. That pop core has been dominant for a long time. EDM was just an added flavour that some artists adopted. So what I'm talking about is a shift in that core sound. I'm not saying that it will or should happen, but it's a possibility . Optimus 298
A rock album would flop, the songs would be a MESS. And because of the floppage Gaga will get depressed again. So NO.

lego 44,165
I hope she gets really chubby and makes a death metal album only to lose some of the most annoying members of this fanbase. FreePalestine
Bye 3,947
Your reason is lame af. I just want her to make rock music because I can bet on my life that I will like it more than any of her previous efforts. I don't know why but I didn't expect this from you
AmenTheNight 1,084
If she wants a rock album and collaborates with RedOne, I'm 100% sure she will get Porcelain Black's rejects. For those who don't know her sound :
mariomania1234 11,368
I'm pretty sure lots of fans stopped paying attention to her after she started doing JazzI am also sure I will not be the only person who discards her if she doesn't deliver AMAZING music with LG5. The longer you are in the business the harder it is to gain new fans because people already decided what they think about you. So if she does go for Rock it better slay because I'm at my wits end with this womanIt's not like she gains more and more fans with each release, you can also be left behind. Just look at what is Happening to BritneyYou're at you wits end for what exactly? Because she's taking time to dabble in something different on the wait between albums? (Which is doing wonders for her BTW.)

I looove the idea of it but I'm not sure I'd make it through that myself . I'm sure some good classic rock with a modern twist would do the trick as well Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺

For those who don't know her sound : This is more of a mash between Pop, Metal and Dubstep though. And if you ask me, barring some of those overused dubstep sounds, the production isn't even half bad Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺
CrownClown 105
Maybe as a side project, a la Cheek to Cheek. But she should concentrate on making POP music atm, while she's still young. She has a lot of time to experiment with other genres when she gets older, since pop music with partying etc lyrics will not fit her well i.e. Madonna
