A statement from the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh says Jonas contacted event organizers himself after hearing of Azalea's cancellation. “Nick had heard about Pittsburgh Pride in the media and called us on Tuesday and said he would like to come and perform," said Gary Van Horn, president of Delta Foundation. "He has been a supporter of the LGBT community, and he wanted to make sure that the community and Pittsburgh had a Pride event that they could be proud of.” Jonas' performance is set for Saturday night on the streets of Pittsburgh. Azalea's decision to pull out of the performance followed weeks of controversy after some homophobic tweets from the Australian entertainer surfaced. "Unfortunately in the past as a young person, I used words I should not have," Azalea said in a statement on Tuesday. Coincidentally, Jonas and Azalea are linked by another canceled event: The "Jealous" singer was set to open up for the "Fancy" rapper on her now-shuttered Great Escape Tour."
