InsideOutright 1,118
http://www.torontosun.com/2015/06/03/accessible-orgy-a-go-for-disabled * TORONTO - A major barrier is about to fall for Toronto’s disabled. The city’s first ever accessible orgy is set for this summer. Yes, you read that right. An accessible orgy. Just in time for the Parapan Am Games and, no, it’s not a demonstration sport. “The Berlin wall of s-x for people with disabilities is coming down!” organizer Stella Palikarova tells me down the line from Ottawa. She is there to present a paper to the Canadian Sociological Association, on Experiences of Dating and Sexuality among Heteros-xual Females with Congenital Mobility Disabilities. So, you can see, this orgy is no sleazy fly-by-night racket. Palikarova, 35, a disability awareness consultant, dreamed up the idea, which may even be a world first. She is in a wheelchair because of spinal muscular atrophy but nothing is wrong with her libido. She’s tired of people assuming there is. And she’s tired of bumping into barriers everywhere, in homes, in offices, in stores, in the street ... in s-x clubs.” Sexuality and accessibility. Two sore points for the disabled. What to do, what to do ... Aha, said Stella. An accessible orgy answers both. So she got my neighbourhood’s s-x club, Oasis Aqualounge, on board. It’s a three-storey mansion on Carlton St. and no way a wheelchair gets up to the orgy room, not without a crane. Even I have trouble, and my only handicap is hair loss. Stella and club marketing whiz Fatima Mechtab approached local hotels about housing their accessible orgy and, well, you can imagine the response. Finally, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, four blocks from Oasis and totally accessible, agreed. The orgy, called Deliciously Disabled, goes Aug. 14. That’s the second last day of the Parapan Am Games. Stella figures some of those athletes will want to unwind. But the orgy is open to all, disabled or not. The place holds 125 including about 20 wheelchairs, plus walkers, canes and even your Personal Support Worker (PSW), who gets in free. (Be sure to warn him or her beforehand where you’re going.) The party will include hydraulic lifts. No, fella, they’re for getting in and out of wheelchairs. There will even be an interpreter for the deaf. I’d buy a $20 ticket just to see that — an orgy described in sign language. You don’t have,to have s-x, of course. It’s a masquerade ball, so if you’re shy you can wear a mask. If you’re not shy, well, “a wheelchair can become just a big s-x toy,” says Andrew Morrison-Gurza, 31, another organizer and disability awareness consultant who has cerebral palsy. Okay, I know some of you are thinking, good on them. But some are murmuring, “ewwwww.” “Each to their own,” says Stella. “The naysayers are just subconsciously hating the fact that people in wheelchairs are having great s-x — better s-x than a lot of people are having. “I won’t apologize for that. “By making this party accessible, we are saying openly that people with disabilities are s-xual beings ... and not only in more conventional ways.” “This should not be shocking. It should be celebrated. “But it’s fine. No progress is ever made without controversy.” Party hearty, I say, though please keep the noise down. My neighbourhood has many strange sounds, but an accessible orgy is a novelty. This is a bigger noise than just s-x, of course. Regular readers know I often gripe about how we give billions to “special interest groups, but can’t make our city more accessible to a group that actually warrants help through no fault of their own. “I was in London, England, in September,” says Palikarova, “and their buildings are a lot older than ours, yet most of them are retrofitted.” Adds Morrison-Gurza: “We’re getting there, but we have a long way to go ... and it’s slow.” You may recall it took Variety Village 10 years — and several outraged columns — to get a measly bus stop from the TTC. Progress takes many forms. Even an accessible orgy.

field 98
It's just a s-x club that's accessible. The venue capacity is 125 people, that doesn't mean 125 all having s-x together The story is just being sensationalist using the term orgy. The whole tone of it is a bit off, to me.
