Out of all the videos that have mega views, this one baffles me the most. Yes, it went to #1, but not worldwide. It wasn't as big a hit outside America. It wasn't the biggest hit of the year or will even be a defining music moment in years to come. Baby and Gangnam Style may have been bad, but hey, at least they were some of the defining music videos of the time and they'll be remembered for better or worse. No way does Dark Horse deserve these views (and this is coming from someone who actually likes the song). I think there must be fake views going on. How else would it have attracted even more views than Roar, despite Roar being much more successful and memorable? All the views for Katy this era have been suspiciously high, except for Birthday. For some reason, the record label let that one slide. It has less views than G.U.Y despite it being shorter, only having one version and being a bigger hit!

All of her views are pretty suspicious. When you compare them to her contemporaries they're almost always higher, even if one song was a bigger hit. I think there is obviously payola going on.

Rihanna's the same, though not so much with her current era. Nicki Minaj too. Quite a few other big names. I think it's all payola from the labels to conduct an image of certain people being much bigger than they actually are.

It's just trendy to hate on the video. In actuality it's everything a pop music video should be: it's interesting, colorful, and presents many different looks on the star who by the way looks amazing. Sure it doesn't actually have a horse in it, but she did something bold, unexpected and different and it clearly paid off.

I've hated that song and video since day one. It is not bold nor is it different. Maybe unexpected for being a such a terrible video.

Definitely interesting, and it would be the dark era she talked about. Although her style does seem like it might clash with anything less light, and it could come off as tacky.

Well, ironically (or not so ironically, whichever), the darkest, most serious songs on PRISM are the worst of the lot, so no, not really  :lolly:

who will love me when the night is over
